ABSTRAK Masyarakat modern sering meragukan dirinya sebagai makhluk otonom karena merasadiatur, diawasi dan dilemahkan haknya oleh kekuasaan pemerintahan. Ketidaktahuanakan pemerintahan, birokrasi, dan hukum secara mendalam menjadi kekhawatiranbahkan ketakutan, karena sewaktu-waktu keterlibatan dalam peristiwa yang berkaitandengan hal tersebut mungkin terjadi. Sebagaimana yang tergambar dalam karyaadaptasi wahana novel grafis Franz Kafka, Der Process. Josef K. ditangkap tanpadiberitahu kesalahannya dan harus melalui berbagai peristiwa yang membuatnyabersentuhan dengan birokrasi peradilan yang menekan pribadinya dan menjeratkebebasannya. Citraan dan pemadatan cerita dalam wahana novel grafis ini membentukwahana penceritaan yang lebih tajam akan kemuraman, keterasingan, dan keputusasaanala Kafkaesk.
