ABSTRAK Pada kompetisi global saat ini, perusahaan berlomba-lomba menunjukkankeunggulan daya saingnya baik yang didorong dari kondisi internal maupuneksternal perusahaan. Kondisi eksternal merupakan salah satu faktor yang kuatmendorong perusahaan untuk terus berupaya berkompetisi. Untuk itu, perusahaanmempunyai perhatian yang khusus terhadap kondisi eksternal tersebut denganmelakukan kegiatan kegiatan corporate social responsibility (CSR).Kegiatan Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) merupakan suatu kegiatanperusahaan yang penting dalam mempengaruhi value creation perusahaan yangmemiliki dampak terhadap kinerja perusahaan (keuangan dan non keuangan).Namun tidak semua kegiatan CSR berdampak positif bagi perusahaandikarenakan CSR tidak menyentuh core business atau dapat dikatakan tidakstratejik. Penelitian ini menekan bahwa kegiatan CSR yang stratejik terbagi ataslima dimensi centrality, specificity, proactivity, visibility dan voluntarism akanmempengaruhi value creation perusahaan (Burke & Logsdon, 1996) sehinggamempengaruhi kinerja perusahaan.Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kualitatif dengan studi kasus PT AstraInternational Tbk yang diharapkan mendapatkan informasi dan pemahaman yanglebih mendekati pada konteks sehingga perusahaan dapat melihat persepsistakeholder baik dari internal dan eksternal perusahaan dari program CSR yangdijalankan. ABSTRACT In today's global competition, companies are competing to show theadvantages of both the driven competitiveness of the internal and externalconditions. External condition is one of the factors that could strongly encouragecompanies to continue to compete. Because of that, the company has a focus onthe external conditions by conducting activities of corporate social responsibility(CSR).Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an important corporate activitiesthat affect value creation in companies that have an impact on firm performance(financial and non-financial). However, not all CSR activities have positiveimpacts for the company because the CSR does not touch the core business or canbe said to be strategic. This study stressed that CSR activities are divided into fivedimensions of strategic centrality, specificity, proactivity, voluntarism andvisibility will affect the company's value creation (Burke & Logsdon, 1996) thusaffecting the performance of the company.This study used a qualitative method focusing on a case study of PT AstraInternational Tbk. It is expected to gain more information and understanding ofthe specific context in the field study in order to make the company notices theperception of the stakeholders both internal and external regarding theimplementation of CSR programs in PT.
