Women's ability has not met an adequate respect in Catholic Church. The Church structure does not fully involve women in it. This is, actually. different from Jesus' teachings and the tradition of the early Church. In New Testament, we easily find the relation between Jesus and many women. Jesus accepted and respected them, although this attitude was not in accordance with his tradition. Moreover, Jesus made them involved in the sharing of His good news even to His disciples which generated them as Apostola Apostolarum. In the early Church, women also took part in Christian communities as teachers and leaders. However, these have not been taken seriously by the Catholic Church as authoritative indications of women's role in the church. I truly believe that giving opportunity to women in the church will significantly improve the progress of the church. To acquire it is requiring the shift of its male dominated structure and even culture. |
