The experiment was conducted on microcosmic scale using 4 reservoir tanks of 500 L, each channeled into 3 of 30 L experimental tanks supplied with a light aeration. The sample water from situ Cibuntu was put into the reservoir tanks and enriched with various doses of P, which were 2.86 mM/L, 5.72 mM/L, 11.44mM/L and 22,88 mM/L to give N:P ratio of 16, 8, 4, and 2, respectively. The water was then flowed into the experimental tanks at 9 L/day to obtain the water retention time of 3 day which is the approximate of Situ Cibuntu water retention time. The observation included the development of chlorophyll concentration and phytoplankton productivity and biodiversity in the water. It indicated that P was the growth limiting factor for phytoplankton, enrichment of this element during dry season stimulate the productivity and biodiversity. |
