 Abstract
Indonesia as a member of United Nations has received the convention on abolishment of all kinds discrimination toward women. On the 24th of July 1984 Indonesia ratified that convention by enacting no. 7/1984 Law on Legalization of the convention on abolishment of all kinds of discrimination toward women. Article 2 letter (f) of the convention states that all participant nations should make an effort to form exact regulations, including forming laws to revise and abolish discriminative laws, regulation, tradition, and practices toward women. But in reality, making a change of cultural tradition that has existed for a long time shoshuld undergo strict cultural selection.
