ABSTRAK Di jaman dimana teknologi merajalela ini, media-media sosial memiliki kekuatan untuk mempengaruhi masyarakat Acquisti Gross, 2006 . Dikarenakan oleh hal ini, media-media sosial tersebut bukan hanya menjadi basis untuk mengisi waktu luang, namun juga sebagai bagian dari rutinitas para pengguna Debatin et all., 2009 . Karya ilmiah ini ditulis dengan tujuan untuk menginvestigasi Facebook, salah tau jenjang media sosial terlawas di dunia. Lebih tepatnya lagi, karya ilmiah ini membahas topik hak privasi dan isu keamanan akun pribadi dengan menggunakan Ritualized Media Theory yang dikelolah oleh William Carey. ABSTRACT The existence of social media platforms is continuously penetrating our society Acquisti Gross, 2006 . This causes said platforms to not only act as a form of leisure, but also a routine in the daily activities of its users Debatin et all., 2009 . This research paper explores the perception university students have towards Facebook, one of the world rsquo s leading social media platforms, specifically in terms of their awareness towards the privacy and personal safety their accounts have, and to see whether or not the Ritualized Media Theory proposed by William Carey is valid.The existence of social media platforms is continuously penetrating our society Acquisti Gross, 2006 .
