Coraline 2002 adalah novella yang ditulis oleh Neil Gaiman. Pada tahun 2009, novella tersebut diadaptasi oleh Henry Selick menjadi film animasi. Terdapat beberapa perubahan dalam proses perubahan narasi novella ke naskah film. Salah satunya adalah penambahan karakter yang mempengaruhi perkembangan karakter utama dalam cerita. Jurnal ini memaparkan bahwa karakter tersebut tidak terlalu berkembang jika dibandingkan dengan teks awal dimana hal ini juga mengubah pesan moral. Tujuan dari jurnal ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi perbedaan dalam proses perkembangan karakter utama novella dan film adaptasinya. Coraline 2002 is a novella by Neil Gaiman, and in 2009, it was adapted into an animation movie by Henry Selick. There are several changes in the process of rendering the narrative from a novella to a movie, in which one of them is the creation of new characters that affect the protagonist rsquo s development throughout the story. This paper argues that the protagonist in the adaptation has not much developed compared to the source text, so it also changed the moral message. This paper aims to explore the differences in the process of the protagonist to become fully developed between the novella and the movie. |
