Pemulung bergerak dari satu lokasi ke lokasi lain untuk mengumpulkan sampah melakukan pemilihan lokasi yang menghasilkan lokasi utama dan lokasi alternatif. Pilihan yang diambil dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik lokasi dan faktor pertimbangan. Karakteristik lokasi yang memengaruhi pilihan lokasi pemulung adalah waktu operasional pemulung, kebiasaan masyarakat memilih sampah, dan aturan serta pengemanan lokasi tersebut. Faktor pertimbangan pemulung memilih lokasi adalah jarak, waktu dan persaingan. Pilihan lokasi tersebut dikaitkan dengan identitas gender dan lama pengalaman pemulung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan cara wawancara mendalam dan observasi lapangan. Hasil yang ditemukan adalah pemulung yang lebih berpengalaman bergerak menuju lokasi mengambil sampah pada waktu-waktu sampah banyak, sedangkan pemulung yang cukup berpengalaman memilih lokasi yang berbeda untuk menghindari persaingan namun lokasi yang ditujunya lebih banyak dibandingkan yang kurang berpengelaman.

Scavengers move from one location to another to collect garbage to choose the location that produces the main location and alternative location. The choices taken are influenced by location characteristics and consideration factors. The location characteristics that influence the choice of scavenger location are the operational time of the waste picker, the community 39 s habit of choosing the waste, and the rules and the location of the location. Scavenger consideration factors to choose the location is distance, time and competition. The choice of location is linked to gender identity and the length of scavenger experience. The method used is qualitative method by in depth interview and field observation. The results found are more experienced scavengers moving to the location of picking up garbage at many garbage times, whereas experienced scavengers choose different locations to avoid competition but the location of the target is more than the less experienced.
