Abstract
This research investigates 133 Republikas LGBT related online news articles published from January to March, 2016. Using critical discourse analysis, we examine how hegemonic masculinity manifests itself in the news, stigmatizes LGBT community, and reproduce patriarchal gender order in Indonesia. We expect to popularize the use hegemonic masculinity to link women subordination with heteronormativity. This research concludes that Republikas online news articles idolize hegemonic masculinity by naturalizing cisgenderism and heterosexuality, and, by doing so, reinforce the overall patriarchal gender order in Indonesia.
