ABSTRAK Pertumbuhan jumlah rumah tangga dengan istri yang bekerja merupakan fenomena sosial yang penting saat ini. Data di Indonesia menunjukkan bahwa satu dari dua orang perempuan berstatus menikah memiliki peran ganda sebagai pekerja dan ibu rumah tangga BPS, 2016. Dengan menggunakan data Indonesia Family Life Survey IFLS tahun 2014, studi ini ingin melihat bagaimana dampak dari status bekerja istri terhadap kebahagiaan suami di Indonesia. Total sampel yang digunakan adalah 4,764 orang suami berusia produktif, tinggal serumah dengan istri, dan memiliki keterangan kegiatan seminggu yang lalu serta informasi jam kerja. Hasil regresi logit menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan peluang antara suami yang memiliki istri bekerja maupun tidak bekerja untuk merasa bahagia. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa status bekerja istri tidak memengaruhi kebahagiaan suami. Kebahagiaan suami dalam penelitian ini ditemukan dipengaruhi oleh variabel kebahagiaan istri, karakteristik rumah tangga dan karakteristik demografi individu. ABSTRACT The increasing number of households with working wives is an important social phenomenon today. Data in Indonesia show that one of two married women has a dual role as a worker and housewife BPS, 2016. Using the Indonesia Family Life Survey IFLS in 2014, this study attempts to find the impact of wife 39s working status on husbands happiness in Indonesia. Total sample used in this study is 4,764 working age husband, live in the same household with his wife, and have a complete information regarding main activity in the one week prior to the survey as well as information on work hours. The result of logit regression shows that there is no difference between husband whose wife is working compared to husband whose wife is not working in terms of husbands probability to feel happy. Therefore, it can be concluded that the wife 39 s working status does not affect husbands happiness. The husband 39 s happiness in this study is found to be influenced by the wife 39s happiness variable, household characteristics, and individual demographic characteristics. |
