ABSTRAK Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk untuk menantang paradigma yang mendominasi dalam penyediaan perumahan yang menjadikan rumah sebagai objek terstandar untuk bertinggal. Bagi kaum migran, urbanisasi ke Jakarta seperti mencoba ldquo;durian besar rdquo; untuk mencoba peruntungannya. Benak mereka berpikir bahwa dengan hidup di Jakarta dapat memberikan mereka akses atas sebidang tanah untuk dimanfaatkan, bukan perumahan, apalagi rumah. Rumah yang dipahami adalah shelter di atas lahan yang berfungsi sebagai container menciptakan atau menaungi aktifitas ekonomi informal guna bertahan hidup di kota. Rumah bukan dipahami sebagai sebuah standar fasilitas untuk kelayakan hidup. Bagi masyarakat miskin kota, menurut Turner 1977 rumah bukan sebagai ldquo;what it is rdquo; namun sebagai ldquo;what it does to people rsquo;s live rdquo;. Invisible housing adalah gagasan, istilah yang diajukan peneliti untuk menggambarkan ide metafisik tentang sesuatu yang bukan fisik obyektif terhadap kondisi rumah-rumah yang dihuni oleh masyarakat miskin perkotaan di wilayah urban seperti Jakarta. Objek penelitian adalah rumah-rumah masyarakat pembuat tempe dan tahu di tepi Sungai Ciliwung, Pengadegan dan rumah-rumah pembuat tempe di Perumahan KOPTI Semanan, Jakarta Barat. Temuan di lapangan menunjukan pembuat tempe dan tahu menganggap eksistensi di urban disamakan dengan menguasai ldquo;sebidang tanah rdquo; sebagai wadah aktifitas ekonomi dan sekaligus bertinggal. Lahan-lahan di tepi sungai merupakan lahan yang dianggap paling mudah dan murah untuk dimanfaatkan atau ldquo;lahan bebas rdquo;. Penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan grounded theory, melalui informan dengan teknik snowballing. Perolehan data primer dilakukan melalui survey, pengukuran rumah dan wawancara kepada responden penghuni rumah. ABSTRACT This qualitative research aims to challenge the dominant paradigm in the provision of housing that makes a housing as standardized object for living. For migrants, urbanity to Jakarta is conceived as trying big durians striving for fortune. Their minds thoght that living in Jakarta can give them access to a space or a piece of land to utilized, not housing, let alone a house. A house is understood as ldquo a shelter rdquo built on a land that served as a container creating or protecting their informal economic activities to survive in the city. A house is not understood as a standard facility for the viability of life. For the urban poor, according to Turner 1977 the house is not as what it is but as what it does to people 39 s live . Invisible housing is an idea, a term proposed by researcher to describe the metaphysical idea of something that is not objectively physical to the condition of houses inhabited by the urban poor in urban areas such as Jakarta. The objects of research are the houses of the community of tempe and tofu maker on the banks of the Ciliwung River, Pengadegan and house of tempe maker at KOPTI Housing Semanan, West Jakarta. The findings in the field showed the tempe and tofu maker conceiveed urbanity as space of existence is equated with mastering a piece of land as a container of economic activity and at the same time as dwelling thing. Land near by the river was the land that is considered the easiest and cheapest to be utilized or known as free land . The research was conducted qualitatively with grounded theory, through informant with snowballing technique. Primary data acquisition is done through survey, home measurement and interview to respondents of house dweller. |
