Abstract
Jurnal ini membahas film Ciske de Rat (1984) yang tokohnya, Ciske Vrijmoeth, menarik simpati penonton. Film ini diangkat dari novel trilogi dengan judul sama, berkisah tentang Ciske, seorang anak 11 tahun, yang kurang mendapatkan kasih sayang dari orang tuanya. Ciske yang dikenal nakal pun terlibat kasus pembunuhan terhadap ibunya. Pembahasan menggunakan unsur sinematografi: mise-en-scène untuk melihat framing serta tata kamera dan pencahayaan untuk melihat bagaimana tokoh Ciske ditampilkan. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa tata kamera memperlihatkan Ciske sebagai tokoh yang lemah dan hal itu juga didukung oleh tata cahaya. Tetapi, justru hal itu lah yang mengarahkan simpati penonton pada tokoh Ciske.

This journal analyses the film Ciske de Rat (1984) whose character, Ciske Vrijmoeth, attracting the sympathy of the audience. The film is based on a trilogy novel with the same title, tells the story of Ciske, an 11-year-old boy, who?s got lack affection from his parents. Ciske who was known to be a delinquent boy was involved in a murder of his mother. This study uses elements of cinematography: mise-en-scène to see the framing and camera stands and lighting to see how Ciske's character is shown. From this study, it can be concluded that the cinematography technics successfully uplifting the character of Ciske as a weak figure. However, those are the aspects that bring up the sympathy of the audience to the character of Ciske.
