ABSTRACT Latar Belakang: Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya terkait penggunaan kontrasepsi hormonal suntik jangka pendek yang mengandung hormon estrogen dan progesteron memiliki pengaruh pada rongga mulut khususnya kualitas dan kuantitas saliva. Tujuan: Menganalisis pengaruh lama pemakaian kontrasepsi hormonal suntik jenis Depot-Medorxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) terhadap laju alir dan kapasitas bufer saliva terstimulasi Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 80 wanita berusia 20-35 tahun yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok pemakai kontrasepsi suntik DMPA berdasarkan lama pemakaian yaitu 12-23 bulan, 24-35 bulan dan 36-60 bulan serta 1 kelompok non pengguna (kontrol) dengan jumlah 20 subjek pada setiap kelompok. Pengukuran laju alir dan kapasitas bufer saliva terstimulasi subjek dilakukan dengan GC saliva buffer check kit. Hasil penelitian: Tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna (p > 0,05) laju alir dan kapasitas bufer saliva terstimulasi antara kelompok non pemakai dan kelompok pemakai, maupun antar kelompok pemakai dengan durasi yang berbeda. Namun, bila dilihat berdasarkan nilai rata rata terdapat sedikit kenaikan laju alir dan kapasitas bufer saliva terstimulasi pada ketiga kelompok pemakai jika masing masing dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat pengaruh lama pemakaian kontrasepsi suntik hormonal DMPA terhadap laju alir dan kapasitas bufer saliva terstimulasi. ABSTRACT Background: The previous studies regarding short-term hormonal contraceptive injection that consist of estrogen and progesterone have oral manifestation especially to quality and quantity of saliva Objectives: To analyze the effects of hormonal contraceptive injection Depot Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) usage duration to flow rate and buffer capacity of stimulated saliva. Methods: Study was conducted on 80 females aged 20-35 years that were divided into 3 groups of contraceptive users with different duration of usage that were 12-23 months, 24-35 months and 30-60 months, and a group of non-contraceptive users, each group consist of 20 subjects. The measurements of saliva flow rate and buffer capacity were done using GC saliva buffer check kit. Results: There were no significant difference (p > 0,05) of flow rate and buffer capacity of stimulated saliva between groups of contraceptive users and group of non-users as well as between groups of users with different length of duration. However, the mean value of both flow rate and buffer capacity slightly increase in 3 groups of contraceptive users if each were compared to group of non-users Conclusion: There were no effects of hormonalcontraceptive injection DMPA usage duration to flow rate and buffer capacity of stimulated saliva. |
