Studi sebelumnya berusaha untuk menguji konsekuensi emosional yang mungkin timbul dari penggunaan media sosial. Salah satunya adalah efek pos positif orang asing pada pengaruh seseorang. Ada dua perspektif utama dalam menjelaskan hubungan antara penggunaan media sosial dan pengaruh, yaitu teori perbandingan sosial dan penularan emosional. Peneliti menguji variabel moderator untuk keberadaan makna dalam kehidupan untuk menjelaskan perbedaan hasil yang diperoleh dari melihat posting positif di Instagram dari orang asing pada pengaruh seseorang. Penelitian eksperimental ini dilakukan dengan membagi peserta menjadi tiga kondisi, yaitu pos positif, pos netral, dan tidak ada pos. Makna variabel dalam hidup diukur dengan menggunakan Meaning in Life Questionnaire - Presence (MLQ-P) dan variabel yang mempengaruhi diukur menggunakan PANAS dan Efek Negatif Jadwal (PANAS). Hasil penelitian dari 111 siswa (36 siswa dalam kondisi pos positif, 34 siswa dalam kondisi pos netral, dan 41 siswa dalam kondisi pos tidak) menunjukkan bahwa makna kehidupan variabel memoderasi pengaruh melihat posting positif dari orang asing di pengaruh positif b = 0,447, p <0,05, tetapi tidak pada pengaruh negatif. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa makna hidup dapat melindungi pengaruh positif seseorang dari pemaparan pos positif orang asing. Previous studies have tried to examine the emotional consequences that may arise from the use of social media. One of them is the positive postal effect of strangers on one's influence. There are two main perspectives in explaining the relationship between social media use and influence, namely social comparison theory and emotional contagion. The researcher tested the moderator variable for the existence of meaning in life to explain the difference in results obtained from seeing positive posts on Instagram from strangers on one's influence. This experimental study was conducted by dividing participants into three conditions, namely positive posts, neutral posts, and no posts. The meaning of variables in life is measured using Meaning in Life Questionnaire - Presence (MLQ-P) and influencing variables are measured using the HEAT and Negative Effects Schedule (HEAT). The results of 111 students (36 students in positive postal conditions, 34 students in neutral postal conditions, and 41 students in positive postal conditions) showed that the meaning of life variables moderating the effect of seeing positive posts from strangers on positive influences b = 0.447, p < 0.05, but not to a negative effect. This finding shows that the meaning of life can protect a person's positive influence from exposure to positive strangers' posts. |
