ABSTRAK Negara Jerman merupakan salah satu negara di Eropa yang memiliki angka obesitas yangterbilang cukup besar. Namun, adanya standar bentuk tubuh ideal menurut budaya baratmenyebabkan adanya peristiwa body shaming yang memberikan stigma negatif bagi parapenderita obesitas. Untuk menumbuhkan sebuah rasa percaya diri (self-esteem) dalam diriseseorang dibutuhkan peran dari sendiri maupun dari orang lain. Roman anak Paula und dieLeichtigkeit des Seins(2007) karya Zoran Drvnkar merupakan sebuah roman anak yangmenggambarkan perkembangan self-esteem dalam diri seseorang dan peran empati dari oranglain dalam memumbuhkan rasa percaya diri. Metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif digunakandalam menganalisis roman anak Paula und die Leichtigkeit des Seins (2007). Perkembangan selfesteemdan pengaruh empati yang terjadi pada tokoh Paula menjadi fokus permasalahan dalampenelitian ini. Hasil analisi menunjukan, rasa percaya diri tidak hanya berdiri dari suatu sikapatau tindakan, namun terdiri dari beberapa bentuk penggambaran rasa percaya diri yaitu Self-Awareness, Self-Image, Self-Esteem, Self-Dicipline, Self-Motivation, Self-Direction dan, Self-Projection. Empati juga sangat berpengaruh dalam pembentukan rasa percaya diri seseorang. ABSTRACT Germany is one of the countries in Europe with a fairly high rate of obesity. However, theexistence of the ideal Western body shape leads to body shaming, which gives rise to thestigmatization towards people with obesity. The cultivation of self-esteem requires theinvolvement of both the individual as well as other people. The childrens novella Paula und dieLeichtigkeit des Seins (2007) by Zoran Drvnkar is a tale that depicts the development of selfesteemin a person and the role of empathy from others in the healing of self-confidence. Thequalitative descriptive method of research was used in analyzing the childrens novella of Paul und die Leichtigkeit des Seins (2007). The development of self-esteem and the influence ofempathy towards the character Paula became the focus of the problem in this study. The result ofthe analysis shows that confidence is not only built based on attitude or action, but also consistsof some forms of self-esteem; Self-Awareness, self-Image, Self-Esteem, Self-Dicipline, Self-Motivation, Self-Direction and, Self-Projection. Empathy is also very influential in thedevelopment of a person's self-esteem. |
