ABSTRACT One of the librarians activities that consider as the activities of the main elements, but not as the main tasks of thelibrarian is the writing works or scientific work in the field of librarianship. This activity is grouped into theprofessional development. The Credit point that offered for this activity is quite large, especially when compared to theactivities of the library technical activities or the library housekeeping activities. Therefore, many librarians are doingthis activity in order to get the bigger credit point. Unfortunately, many librarians are not careful in writing, or mayalso intentionally do things that are not commendable, so that the result of the work contains a lot of alleged plagiarism. This study tried to give the picture of the writing work / academic work of the librarian that proposed to the NationalAssessment Team at the National Library. The study was carried out to 129 work that written by 16 librarians duringJanuary - May 2019. Samples were taken using non probability sampling techniques, namely drawn incidentallysampling. All papers are examined using the Turnitin application and were recorded the level of similarity with otherworks that are already posted in cyberspace. The highest similarity level is known to be 94% or it can be consideredthat all parts of the work suspected as copied from other works (plagiarism) that are found in the internet. While thework that has the lowest similarity level is 2%, or there is almost no suspicion of plagiarism from the writing.Allegations of plagiarism can indeed be deliberately done by the author, or can be accidentally done by the author, forexample because of ignorance of how to write a quote. Therefore, it is recommended that the authors to study or toread the writing guidelines that are widely circulating in the academic world so that their work are not break the rulesand avoid the alleged plagiarism. |
