Phase change material (PCM) technology is one of the most widely used materialsengineering technologies and its role in the application of thermal management featuresknown as "smart materials". One of the techniques for making high-performance passiveconditioning PCM is by combining PCM base material with TiO2 metal oxide nanomaterial which has very high thermal stability properties. The purpose of this study was to analyze the comparison of the main thermalcharacteristics of PCM paraffin / TiO2 nano composites made with a mechanical in situprocess using surfactants as dispersion promoters due to variations of time and at highspeed stirring. This study used an experimental procedure through in situ mechanical mixing of paraffinbasedPCM and 4 wt% rutile titanium dioxide (TiO2) to form nano composite PCM withhigh-speed stirring variations (700, 900 and 1100 rpm at 90° c for 45, 60, and 90 minutes)and mixed with Sodium. Dodecyl Sulphate (SDS) as a dispersant by applying a polarsolution premixing (distillation H20 + 4 wt% SDS dispersant) to a non-polar paraffinbasedsolution (paraffin wax + 4 wt% TiO2) in a ratio of 1: 4, then cooled naturally.Fourier Transient Infrared (FTIR) spectra and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns showedthe characteristics of a composite system. no new material system was composed. Thetypical wave numbers of the PW + TiO2 composite (2918 cm-1, 2851cm-1, 1471 cm-1,720cm-1 and 469 cm-1) were observed in FTIR, while the high intensity peaks were 2θ =21.4°, 23.8° and low intensity peaks of 27.4°, 36.1°, XRD patterns were attributed tomonoclinic paraffin crystals with typical plane diffraction (110) and (200) and TiO2. Thethermal properties of the composites were measured using Differential ScanningCalorimetry. The findings indicated that paraffin-based PCM had a higher thermalstorage capacity of 144.3 J/g compared to the typical value of 104.5 J/g. With the Patelequation, the conductivity value of NKB-MY2 (Nano Composite PCM Paraffin / TiO2-Mechanical - 900rpm- 60 minutes) is 0.41 W / mK and NKB-SY2 (Nano CompositePCM Paraffin / TiO2- SDS- 900rpm - 60min), is 0.43 W / mK, which is an increase of69% and 75,6% of pristine Paraffin PCM. Scanning Electron Microscope observationsshow better TiO2 cluster dispersion (shiny, smooth, round, and diffuse). This showed thatthe stirring speed and the right temperature can increase the capacity to isolatetemperatures |
