Abstract
Setiap kelompok etnik mempertahankan identitas mereka melalui ekspresi budaya yang kontinu untuk menciptakan boundaries etnik, arsitektur kemudian menjadi salah satu aspek dimana boundaries tersebut tercipta. Didasari teori yang melandasi identitas etnik serta boundaries pada arsitektur urban, dilakukan pengamatan terhadap Jalan Pancoran, yang merupakan salah satu kawasan Pecinan yang paling aktif. Menggunakan pendekatan experiential, pengamatan menunjukan hadirnya boundaries yang terwujud dalam atmosfer ruang terbangun, sehingga dapat diidentifikasi indikasi akan keberadaan identitas etnik Tionghoa pada arsitektur kawasan Jalan Pancoran.
......Every ethnic group preserve and maintain their identity by continual expression of their culture, in which ethnic boundaries are created. Architecture then becomes one aspect in which these boundaries manifest. Based on the theory that underlines the concept of ethnic identity and boundaries within urban architecture, an observation towards Jalan Pancoran area was done, as it is one of the most active areas in Jakarta?s Pecinan. Using experiential approach, the result of the observation shows presences of boundaries that manifests within the atmosphere of built architecture, which identifies the presence of indications over Chinese ethnic identity within the architecture around Jalan Pancoran area.
