Tesis ini membahas mengenai bagaimana strategi perusahaan Sony untuk memproduksi produk konsol video game Playstation 5 pada saat ada krisis pasokan chip semikonduktor. Krisis chip semikonduktor menyebabkan Sony untuk mengurangi kapasitas kemampuan manufaktur Playstation 5 karena tidak dapat memperoleh pasokan chip semikonduktor yang merupakan komponen sangat vital dalam penciptaan konsol tersebut. Konsep global value chain, general marketing, dan Japanese corporate culture digunakan sebagai dasar untuk menganalisa data penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi literatur dari berbagai buku, jurnal, artikel, situs video dan situs resmi perusahaan Sony. Dari data-data yang telah dianalisa, disimpulkan bahwa relasi antara Sony sebagai perusahaan utama dan AMD dan TSMC sebagai perusahaan pemasok memilliki hubungan yang sangat vital dalam menyediakan penciptaannya pasokan konsol Playstation 5. Krisis chip semikonduktor memperlambat proses produksi berbagai alat elektronik termasuk konsol Playstation 5 dan menyebabkan disrupsi pada jaringan pasokan global. Strategi Sony adalah untuk membantu perusahaan pemasok untuk meningkatkan kapasitas produksi, memastikan harga produk-produknya stabil, dan sebisa mungkin menjual langsung ke konsumen. Jaringan pasokan global mengalami disrupsi karena pandemi Covid-19 dan tingkat permintaan alat elektronik meningkat pesat terutama di sektor kendaraan berbasis elektrik dan teknologi 5G. This thesis discusses how the strategies of Sony corporation produces the Playstation 5 video game console during the semiconductor chip supply crisis. The semiconductor chip crisis caused Sony to reduce the manufacturing capacity of the Playstation 5 console because it was unable to obtain a supply of the semiconductor chip which was a vital component in the creation of the console. The concepts of global value chain, general marketing, and Japanese corporate culture are used as the basis for analyzing research data. This study uses a qualitative method by literature studies from various books, journals, articles, video sites and the official website of Sony. From the analyzed data, it is concluded that the relationship between Sony as the main company and AMD and TSMC as the supplier company maintains a vital relationship in providing the creation of the supply of the Playstation 5 console. The semiconductor chip crisis slowed down the production process of various electronic devices including the Playstation 5 console and caused disruptions to the global supply network. Sony's strategy is to help its supplier companies to increase production capacity, ensure the prices of their products are stable, and sell directly to consumers as much as possible. The global supply network has been disrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a sharp rise in demand for electronic devices, especially in the electric vehicle and 5G technology sectors. |
