Artikel ini membahas tentang bagaimana peran dan kinerja dari PT Kimia Farma pada tahun 1971 hingga 1981. Tahun 1971 adalah awal mula Kimia Farma bertransformasi dari bentuk Perusahaan Negara Farmasi (PNF) menjadi perseroan. Di waktu yang bersamaan, Indonesia mengalami krisis obat yang diakibatkan oleh kurangnya devisa untuk untuk impor obat. Antisipasinya adalah dengan membuka kesempatan bagi para importir di bidang farmasi agar persediaan obat dalam negeri bertambah. Berkat antisipasi tersebut, jumlah obat memang bertambah namun harganya melonjak. Banyaknya obat di pasaran terlebih dengan harganya yang tinggi ini tidak mampu meraih seluruh lapisan masyarakat. Untuk itu, pemerintah Indonesia menunjuk PT Kimia Farma sebagai salah satu perusahaan yang bertugas sebagai distributor obat-obatan dengan harga yang lebih rendah dan mendorong PT Kimia Farma untuk dapat membuat obat dalam negeri. Dalam penulisan artikel ini, penulis menyoroti sejauh mana kinerja PT Kimia Farma. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah PT Kimia Farma mampu melakukan kinerja yang efektif dalam upaya penyediaan obat esensial, dengan bekerjasama dengan mitra-mitra, sumber daya manusia serta teknologi. PT Kimia Farma juga dapat mendistribusikan obat esensial ke seluruh Indonesia tanpa melalui hambatan. Penulisan artikel ini menggunakan metode sejarah dan menggunakan berbagai sumber dalam bentuk arsip seperti undang-undang dan peraturan pemerintah, koran sezaman seperti Kompas, Warta Berita dan lainnya, serta majalah sezaman seperti Majalah Kesehatan dan Bulletin Kesehatan.
This article discusses the role and performance of PT Kimia Farma from 1971 to 1981, which in 1971 was the beginning of Kimia Farma's transformation from the form of the State Pharmaceutical Company (PNF) to a company. At the same time, the Indonesian government was pursuing public health and welfare through various policies. One of the crucial areas was medicines procurement. In the early days of the New Order (Orde Baru), Indonesia experienced a medicine crisis caused by a lack of foreign exchange to import medicines. The anticipation was to open up opportunities for importers in the pharmaceutical sector to increase the supply of domestic medicines. Thanks to this anticipation, the number of medicines did increase but their prices soared. The number of medicines on the market, especially with their high prices, was not able to reach all levels of society. For this reason, the Indonesian government appointed PT Kimia Farma as one of the companies that served as a distributor of medicines with lower prices. In this article, the author highlights the extent to which the performance of PT Kimia Farma. The result of this research is that PT Kimia Farma is able to carry out effective performance in the effort to provide essential medicines, by collaborating with partners, human resources and technology. PT Kimia Farma can also distribute essential drugs throughout Indonesia without going through obstacles.
