Party Switching atau perpindahan partai politik yang dilakukan oleh politisi dipicu oleh keinginan politisi untuk mengejar ambisi politiknya di dalam konteks sistem kepartaian yang ada. Dampak dari fenomena ini akan memengaruhi institusi partai politik dengan terjadinya perpecahan, pengabungan, hingga pembentukan partai politik baru. Partai NasDem menorehkan hasil yang baik dalam Pemilu 2019, di antaranya karena adanya kandidat petahana yang berpindah dari partai politik lain ke NasDem. Tesis ini meneliti dan menganalisis fenomena party switching di Partai NasDem pada Pemilu 2019. Teori Sistem Insentif (Incentive System Theory) dari Alan Ware, dan teori four-stage model dari Heller dan Mershon digunakan untuk memahami bagaimana party switching terjadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan metode kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam. Melalui teori sistem insentif, peneliti berusaha melihat alasan seorang politisi (caleg petahana) melakukan pindah partai politik menjelang pemilu, dan menjadikan Partai NasDem sebagai tujuan perpindahah tersebut. Peneliti melihat bahwa terdapat tiga insentif utama, yakni: material; solidaritas; dan tujuan, yang menjadi penggerak utama bagi politisi melakukan party switching. Perhitungan insentif ini bekerja dalam mekanisme outswitch (faktor internal) dan inswitch (faktor penarik), baik dari segi kondisi internal partai yang ditinggalkan maupun kondisi internal partai tujuan. Party Switching or the movement of political parties carried out by politicians is triggered by the desire of politicians to pursue their political ambitions within the context of the existing party system. The impact of this phenomenon will affect the institutions of political parties with the occurrence of divisions, mergers, and the formation of new political parties. The NasDem Party made good results in the 2019 Election, partly because of the incumbent candidate who switched from another political party to NasDem. This thesis examines and analyzes the phenomenon of party switching in the NasDem Party in the 2019 Election. Incentive System Theory from Alan Ware and the four-stage model theory from Heller and Mershon are used to understand how party switching occurs. This study uses a qualitative method approach with in-depth interview techniques. Through the theory of the incentive system, the researcher tries to see the reasons for a politician (incumbent candidate) to switch political parties before the election, and make the NasDem Party as the destination of the move. The researcher see that there are three main incentives, namely: material; solidarity; and goals, which are the main drivers for politicians to do party switching. This incentive calculation works in an outswitch (internal factor) and inswitch (pull factor) mechanism, both in terms of the internal conditions of the left party and the internal conditions of the destination party. |
