ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan perbedaan jumlah keterpakaian koleksi di lima Daerah Tingkat II di Jawa Tengah. Jumlah keterpakaian ini merupakan indikator kebutuhan bahan bacaan di suatu daerah. Sampel penelitian adalah seluruh populasi sebanyak 5 daerah yang masing-masing mewakili satu perwilayahan pembangunan, yaitu : Kabupaten Dati II Pemalang, Kabupaten Dati II Purworejo, Kotamadya Dati II Surakarta, Kabupaten Dati II Pati, dan Kotamadya Dati II Semarang. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui dokumen yang merupakan metode utama, dan wawancara dengan 30 responden di setiap Daerah Tingkat II sebagai data tambahan. Hasil penelitian adalah : (1) ada perbedaan jumlah keterpakaian koleksi di setiap Daerah Tingkat II yang berarti ada perbedaan kebutuhan bahan bacaan (kekhususan kebutuhan); (2) ada pilihan kebutuhan bahan bacaan karena kebutuhan utama tidak terpenuhi; (3) masih banyak kendala/hambatan yang dihadapi dalam penyelenggaraan perpustakaan keliling, diantaranya : dana, keterbatasan tempat dan koleksi, pos dan waktu layanan, serta tingginya tingkat kerusakan dan kehilangan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa, adanya perbedaan kebutuhan dan pilihan kebutuhan bahan bacaan di setiap Dati II disebabkan oleh ketidaksesuaian koleksi dengan pemakai. Oleh karena itu direkomendasikan agar Perpustakaan Daerah meminta masukan dari setiap Dati II mengenai koleksi yang benar-benar dibutuhkan oleh pemakai di setiap Dati II. The Usefullness Of Mobile Library Collection In Central Java : A Case Study In Five Regencies In 1993 ? 1994The purpose of this research has been to describe the differences in the degree of usefullnes of library collections among five regencies in Central Java. The degree of usefullness can be used as an indicator of reading material needs in a regency. The regencies from which research samples have been drawn are all of the population, that are : Pemalang, Purworejo, Surakarta, Pati, Semarang, and each regency represents its development zone. Datas have been collected by means of library document as the main method, and interview as the second method. In this research, 30 respondents from each regency was asked to participate in this interview. The results of the research are as follows : 1) there is significant difference in the usefullness of collection among five regencies; it means that the need of collection varies from regency to another. 2) there is an alternative choice of reading materials because the basic need is not fulfilled. 3) there are still many challanges faced in organizing the mobile library, such as fund, limited place and collection, strategic service points, time of serving, and problem of lose and damage of the collections. Based on the results of the research can be concluded that the differences and an alternative choice of reading material in each regency is caused by the insufficient variation of the existing collections. It is therefore recommended that Regional Library requests input from each regency concerning the collection really needed by their users. |
