This article describes the functions of librarian as an intermediary on the online searching. An intermediary roles emerge as an implications of growth of information technology and spread out over the world, particularly on the online searching. Extended implications of this development has changed the user's behavior to seek information. The librarian should anticipate those shifting users behavior. Some theories, opinion, and argument from experts in online searching and librarians reviewed in this article and found that two functions of the librarian as an intermediary are as a user and as a searcher of online database. This article also describes the qualifications of the librarian as an intermediary namely self-confident, thinking logically, communicative, capability to sell information, understand the searching subject, patient and having effort to share the information to the users. |
