Sense of place merupakan perasaan tertentu yang dimiliki individu terhadap suatu tempat yang dihasilkan oleh interaksi orang tersebut dengan suatu tempat. Sense of place dapat mendorong visualisasi tempat yang dalam hal ini merupakan representasi mental seseorang terhadap tempat termasuk citra kota. Citra kota merujuk pada bagaimana orang membentuk persepsi spasial lingkungan perkotaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sense of place mahasiswa Indonesia terhadap citra Kota London. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan purposive sampling. Data primer diperoleh dari wawancara mendalam, pemetaan mental, dan observasi. Data sekunder diperoleh melalui studi literatur. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis konten, teknik interpretasi, dan triangulasi sumber data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ruang kognitif mempengaruhi berkembangnya sense of place antara mahasiswa Indonesia dengan Kota London melalui pengetahuan, pengalaman dan interaksi. Skala intensionalitas menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa Indonesia di London mampu mengetahui berada di suatu tempat hingga dapat mengidentifikasi diri dengan tujuan tempat. Jenis hubungan dengan tempat didominasi oleh hubungan commodified. Berdasarkan sense yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa terhadap tempat tertentu, mahasiswa dapat mengenali elemen-elemen citra kota berdasarkan subjektivitas mereka, termasuk elemen landmark, nodes, path, district, dan edge. Tempat yang dikenali sebagai elemen citra kota umumnya berkaitan dengan faktor keakraban mahasiswa dengan tempat, dan faktor fisik elemen yang menonjol dan menarik perhatian
Sense of place is a certain feeling that an individual developed towards a place that is generated by the person's interaction with a place. Sense of place can encourage the visualization of a place, which in this study, is a person's mental representation of a place, including the image of a city. City image refers to how people form spatial perceptions of the urban environment. This study aims to determine the sense of place of Indonesian students towards the image of the City of London. The method used in this research is qualitative with purposive sampling. In-depth interviews, mental mapping, observation, and literature study were conducted to gather data. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis techniques, interpretation techniques, and data source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that cognitive space influences the development of a sense of place between Indonesian students and the City of London through knowledge, experience and interaction. The intentionality scale of Indonesian students in London ranges from having knowledge of being located in a place to being able to identify themselves with the place goals. The type of relationships with place is dominated by commodified. Based on the sense that students have towards certain places, they can identify London’s city image based on their subjectivity, including the elements of landmarks, nodes, paths, districts, and edges. Places that are visualized as elements of city image are generally related to factors of students' familiarity with places, and physical factors of the element that are outstanding and eye-catching |
