Angka kejadian hipertensi di Indonesia meningkat cukup tinggi setiap tahunnya khusunya Jawa Barat jika dibiarkan tidak terkendali secara terus menerus dan tidak terkontrol dapat menimbulkan komplikasi berbahaya. Perlu upaya untuk mengetahui faktor paling utama dalam kejadian hipertensi supaya seseorang dapat mengubah pola hidup yang dapat beresiko terkena hipertensi ataupun memperberat hipertensi. Penelitian deskriptif korelatif dengan menggunakan desain cross sectional. Total sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 434 orang masyarakat dikelurahan mangkubumi yang memiliki penyakit hipertensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa umur, jenis kelamin, nutrisi (konsumsi garam), riwayat olahraga, pekerjaan dan pendidikan memiliki nilai p value < 0,05 yang artinya terdapat hubungan terhadap kejadian hipertensi, namun tingkat stres, obesitas, riwayat merokok dan riwayat keluarga dengan hipertensi tidak terdapat hubungan terhadap kejadian hipertensi (p value > 0,05). Faktor dominan terhadap kejadian hipertensi pada penelitian ini adalah usia (p value 0,000), jenis kelamin (p value 0,001) dan riwayat olahraga (p value 0,021). Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat merubah pola hidup masyarakat menjadi lebih sehat untuk menghindari komplikasi dari hipertensi. The incidence of hypertension in Indonesia increases quite high every year, especially in West Java, if left uncontrolled continuously and uncontrolled can cause dangerous complications.
