Abstract
COVID-19 adalah peristiwa langka yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya dan memiliki dampak negatif terhadap pasar saham di seluruh dunia. Untuk menanggulangi krisis yang terjadi, pemerintah mengambil langkah dengan mengeluarkan paket stimulus ekonomi. Penelitian ini ingin melihat bagaimana pasar bereaksi terhadap setiap paket stimulus yang dikeluarkan oleh pemerintah di Indonesia, Malaysia, Filipina, Singapura, dan Thailand. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah event study, penulis menggunakan cumulative abnormal return selama periode 7 hari sebelum dan sesudah event untuk mengukur reaksi pasar terhadap paket stimulus ekonomi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara garis besar pasar di Indonesia, Malaysia, Filipina, dan Singapura bereaksi secara negatif terhadap paket stimulus ekonomi, sementara Reaksi positif terhadap paket stimulus ekonomi hanya terlihat di Thailand.
......COVID-19 is an unprecedented event and had a negative effect on the stock market around the world. In order to lessen the effect, the government took action with economic stimulus packages. This study examines how the stock market responded to every stimulus package offered by the Government in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The method used in this study is event study, we used 7-day cumulative abnormal return to measure the market?s response to the stimulus packages. Interestingly, The result shows that the market in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore reacted negatively while Thailand?s market reacted positively to the stimulus packages.
