[Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan menjadikan keterampilan literasi informasi
sebagai suatu kebutuhan bagi para siswa dalam membangun pengetahuannya dan
menciptakan pemahaman dengan caranya sendiri. Terlebih dengan adanya
perpustakaan sekolah sebagai sarana penyedia sumber informasi bagi kegiatan
belajar mengajar, para siswa diharapkan dapat menggunakan informasi yang ada
secara efektif dan efisien. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi
kemampuan literasi informasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Depok dalam
mengerjakan tugas makalah dan juga mengidentifikasi peran serta perpustakaan
sekolah dalam menunjang kebutuhan informasi para siswa SMP Negeri 4 Depok.
Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode
penelitian survei dengan kuesioner. Kuesioner dibuat dengan menggunakan
indikator-indikator dari standar kompetensi literasi informasi untuk tingkatan
sekolah yaitu Information Literacy Standards for Student Learning: Standards
and Indicators yang dibuat oleh American Association of School Librarians
(AASL). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas VIII telah memiliki
kemampuan literasi informasi yang baik dalam mengerjakan makalah dan
perpustakaan sekolah sudah baik dalam penyediaan sumber informasi namun
masih ada beberapa kekurangan., Educational reform make information literacy skills a necessity as students to

there is school library as the information resources center for learning and
teaching activities at school, all of students are expected to use information
effectively and efficiently. This research aimed to identify information literacy
skills of junior high students on eight grades at SMP Negeri 4 Depok on doing
research papers and also to identify the contributions of school library for
supporting the needs of junior high students at SMP Negeri 4 Depok. This
research is a quantitative one using a survey approach with questioner. The
questioners were constructed from the Information Literacy Standards for Student
Learning: Standards and Indicators from American Association of School
Librarians (AASL). The results of this research show that junior high students on
eight grades have good information literacy skills on doing their research papers
and also school library have good contributions as the information resources
center but still have flaws.]
