Salah satu faktor yang dapat dijadikan sebagai indikator perkembangan suatu negara adalah perkembangan di sektor Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK). Upaya keras pemerintah Indonesia untuk membangun di sektor TIK ini kian gencar, pemerintah ingin agar sektor TIK ini dapat dinikmati hingga seluruh lapisan masyarakat. Industri Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) kian hari kian berkembang, Ketidakpuasan manusia dalam ber-eksplorasi dalam bidang TIK membuat perkembangan dunia TIK semakin cepat. Selama ini industri perangkat TIK di Indonesia masih di dominasi oleh industri TIK asing Mereka seakan sepenuhnya menguasai seluruh perangkat teknologi di Indonesia sehingga kita serasa tersuapi teknologi oleh bangsa asing, Apapun bentuknya, sepertinya kita hanya menerima perangkat teknologi tersebut dari mereka, kemudian langsung melemparnya kepada penduduk Indonesia.
Hasilnya adalah teknologi yang mahal untuk dinikmati secara merata oleh seluruh penduduk Indonesia. Bagaimana dengan peluang kemampuan industri perangkat TIK nasional, sudah sanggup dan siapkah industri perangkat TIK nasional kita bersaing dengan industri bangsa asing, Sehingga dapat memberikan manfaat nasional dan sekaligus menimbulkan kebanggaan memiliki dan menggunakan produk nasional. Hal ini bisa dapat memberikan inspirasi kerja tersendiri. Dan ada baiknya dipertanyakan seberapa besar perhatian pemerintah pusat atas industri perangkat TIK nasional.
One of the factors that indicates the development of a nation is the advances of Information and Communication Technology Sector (ICT). The hard and full efforts in developing Information and Communication Technology Sector has shown by the government of Indonesia. This development is aimed to all levels of people throughout Indonesia. The hard efforts of the Indonesian government for establishing this ICT sector is intensifying, the government expect that this ICT sector could be benefited by all levels of society. The Information Technology and Communication Industry (ICT) has shown its continuous progress throughout days. The human dissatisfaction in exploring in the field of ICT has resulted in the rapid development of this industry. For the meantime, the hardware and software industry for information technology and communication is occupied by the foreign companies. It also gives impact emotionally to the local industry as well as the Indonesian people. Namely, we just accept the foreign hardware and software technology as the most divine technology.
Finally, this condition results in the development of high-cost technology that will be used for all Indonesian people. The next question is about the chances of local information technology. Can our local information technology industry and how far is the local industry able to compete with foreign companies? Furthermore, this is expected to contribute national benefits as well as inspire for national pride of using local products. Not only building up the nationalism, but also it will inspire the working. For this reason, it is also compulsory for us to question the government?s attention toward the development of the local information and communication technology.
