Skripsi ini membahas bagaimana pengambilan keputusan etis pada 120 mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi angkatan 2010-2012 saat dihadapkan pada situasi yang dapat memancing pelanggaran etika.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan eksperimen sebagai teknik pengambilan data.Terdapat empat grup ekspeirmen, dimana satu grup merupakan control group dan sisanya mendapatkan perlakuan (treatment).Hasil eksperimen menyarankan bahwa saat mahasiswa diberi kesempatan untuk menyontek dalam mengerjakan tes, mereka cenderung menyontek; saat mahasiswa diminta untuk membaca dokumen kode etik kompleks lalu diberi kesempatan untuk mencontek dalam mengerjakan tes, mereka cenderung menyontek; namun saat kode etik yang diberikan sederhana, mereka cenderung tidak menyontek. Kesimpulannya adalah, apabila kode etik dikomunikasikan dengan cara yang lebih sederhana, pegawai akan cenderung patuh terhadap kode etik, karena pada dasarnya penelitian mengenai cheating pada mahasiswa merupakan penerka yang cukup akurat terhadap perilaku patuh etika pada pegawai.

This thesis discusses about the ethical behavior of 120 students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia when faced with a situation that may provoke the violation of ethical standard. The current study employs an experiment research design. There are four experimental groups. One group is categorized as control group while the other is treatment group. The results of the study suggest that when students are given the opportunity to cheat in doing tests, they tend to cheat; and it is the same as when they read a complicated code of conduct beforehand, but if the code of conduct is simple, the result is contradictory. Since the research on student cheating is an accurate predictor on employee’s ethical behavior, the corporate code of conduct is correctly used as the stimulus. The result shows that if a code of conduct is communicated in a simpler way, people will obey the ethical standards.
