Carl, Timo
"Timo Carl presents alternatives to curtain wall facades and other flat boundaries creating autonomous spaces. He investigates facade typologies with multiple material layers to strategize the relationship between buildings and their environment. By revisiting Le CorbusierĀ“s seminal brise soleil an alternative reading of the modern project emerges: one that is not based on classical compositional rules, but instead on the dynamic relationships with environmental forces. Finally, an exciting series of project-based investigations sets out innovative ways in which novel deep skins combine energy-conscious performance with the poetics of architecture."

Indonesia, with 23 million people with disabilities, has established a legal framework to regulate the fulfillment of the rights of every individual with disabilities. However, based on data, only 3% of this population is employed. The low employment rate among the disabled community indicates the significant challenges they face. According to a study conducted in one of Indonesia's major cities, less than 20% of buildings or places provide disability-friendly facilities. Another study highlights the substantial need for access to information related to disabilities. Access to such information has the potential to facilitate greater participation of individuals with disabilities in society by opening up access to many places that were previously inaccessible. Therefore, the lack of available information is one of the root issues that must be addressed first. This research is to design a Disability-Friendly Facilities Information System that can draw information from the Google Maps API, one of the largest platforms providing location information with a purpose as a solution to the issue. User-Centered Design was utilized in data collection to ensure that the system meets the needs of people with disabilities. User-centered design approach is use and data was gathered to ensure the system meets the specific needs of individuals with disabilities. Testing results indicate that 9 out of 10 users feel that the application effectively meets their needs for information regarding disability-friendly facilities. Furthermore, the application achieves compliance with WCAG accessibility standards, with 81% of its components meeting criteria. Under conditions of high demand, the application maintains robust performance with an average response time of 11 seconds and an error rate of 0.2%."

"What insights can an anthropologist gain from the day-to-day use of parks? How does an economist view the supply and demand of an outdoor space? Why would an architect divide landscape into 'cultural' and 'natural' elements? Experts from around the world give their thoughts on how disciplines outside landscape architecture view the profession. Their insights link together theories from neighbouring areas, giving constructive feedback on the lessons they've gained from work in the environment and their contributions back to the subject.

""This collection of essays draws together innovative scholars to examine the relationship between two legal and political phenomena: the shrinking of the state as a monopoly of power in favour of the expansion of power over individuals in private hands, and the change in the nature of rights. The authors expertly discuss the implications of the changing boundaries of state power, the legal responses to this development, its application to human rights, and re-conceptualizations of public life as obligations are handed over to private hands. This innovative book deals with an important set of problems and offers a fresh perspective of different legal themes in an integrated fashion"--"
