"Globalisasi adalah keniscayaan yang dihadapi semua lembaga pendidikan. Ada tiga genda yang harus dihadapi oleh lembaga pendidikan. Pertama, lembaga pendidikan perlu mempertimbangkan nilai-nilai humanitas baru yang terkadang sekuler, seperti wacana demokrasi dan multikulturalisme sebagai sarana pembentukan nilai menghadapi modernitas. Kedua, lembaga pendidikan perlu semakin kompetitif untuk membuktikan eksistensinya diantara lembaga pendidikan yang lain. Ketiga, terkait dengan tuntutan pasar, lembaga pendidikan perlu mereview sistem pembelajarannya, sehingga lulusannya dapat berkompetisi di pasar kerja. Madrasah adalah salah satu lembaga pendidikan yang melayani kurang lebih 18-20% kebutuhan pendidikan anak Indonesia. Bagaimana praktisi madrasah menghadapi globalisasi? Bagaimana pula dengan persoalan politik identitas lembaga pendidikan madrasah. Studi ini mengambil kasus pada Madrasah Pembangunan Ciputat Tangerang, sebuah madrasah yang dianggap berhasil menghadapi tantangan global."

"This paper attempts to portrait the journey of madrasah (religious school) during the last five years, i.e. since the enactment of Law of RI number 20 of 2003regarding the National Educational System which positions a madrasah as general school. This reposition is actually positive for the sustainability as well as improving the quality of madrasah. However, it should be noted that more than 90% of madrasah are managed by public. This means that madrasah still has to be developed according to the public requirements, not that of government. Thus, to create a policy on madrasah, it obviously is necessary to accomodate various public interests. Exactly, it is needed a harmonious and dynamics convergency between the government and the people."

"Sebagai institusi pendidikan berbasis agama di Indonesia, proses belajar di dalam pondok pesantren tidak hanya terjadi secara satu arah namun didalamnya juga terdapat keterlibatan para santri secara aktif. Tulisan ini berfokus pada proses pemaknaan dan pembentukan reflexive identity para santri PPTQ Al-Hakmiah sebagai bentuk dari proses belajar untuk menjadi seorang santri. Dalam konteks ini pendekatan connectionsim penulis gunakan untuk menjelaskan proses pemaknaan dari definisi santri yang khas oleh setiap santri yang didasari oleh keberagaman latar belakang sosial budaya. Proses belajar yang terjadi di dalam pondok pesantren merupakan apa yang disebut sebagai legitimate peripheral participation dimana hal ini sangat menentukan cara mencapai tujuan belajar yang bervariasi, porses belajar ini tentu saja tidak luput dari trial and error dengan adanya kecenderungan centripetal dan centrifugal yang memotivasi santri untuk terus melakukan proses pembelajaran di dalam pondok pesantren. Dengan mewawancarai santri yang belum memiliki pengalaman belajar di pondok pesantren, penelitian ini mencari tahu bagaimana mereka menghadapi perbedaan kebudayaan untuk mencapai tujuan belajar yang telah mereka maknai.

As a religion-based educational institution in Indonesia, the learning process in Islamic boarding schools does not only occur in one direction but also includes the active involvement of santri. This paper focuses on the process of interpreting and forming the reflexive identity of the PPTQ Al-Hakmiah students as a form of the learning process to become a santri. In this context, the writer uses the connectionsim approach to explain the process of meaning from the typical santri definition by each santri based on the diversity of socio-cultural backgrounds. The learning process that occurs in Islamic boarding schools is what is referred to as legitimate peripheral participation where this greatly determines how to achieve varied learning goals, this learning process of course does not escape trial and error with the existence of centripetal and centrifugal tendencies that motivate students to continue carry out the learning process in Islamic boarding schools. By interviewing students who do not have experience studying in Islamic boarding schools, this study seeks to find out how they deal with cultural differences to achieve the learning goals they have defined."

"Madrasah menjadi salah satu lembaga pendidikan di Indonesia yang memiliki sejarah panjang. Selain madrasah, terdapat juga pondok pesantren yang mayoritas berdiri bersama madrasah. Dengan perkembangan yang ada saat ini, madrasah menjadi salah satu pilihan oran tua dibanding sekolah umum. Fenomena Islamisasi ditambah lagi dengan berkembangnya modernisasi menjadi salah satu pendorong para orang tua untuk memasukkan anaknya ke madrasah. Namun, di sisi lain terdapat faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya. Aktor sosial yang bergerak dengan berbagai idiologi yang diyakininya menjadi satu poin utama yang merubah paradigma tentang tujuan pendidikan yang ingin dicapai. Sektor-sektor agama baik itu berupa organisasi dan ajaran agama telah banyak memengaruhi berjalannnya proses pengajaran di sebuah lembaga pendidikan. An-Nawawi Sarwodadi dengan tiga lembaga yang ada, menjadi salah satu Yayasan yang ikut dalam arus perkembangan pendidikan di Indonesia. Fenomena kesalehan dan proyek-proyek pendidikan yang ada akhirnya membuat pemahaman tentang pendidikan berbeda dibanding dengan pendidikan umum. Saya menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan etnografi untuk menghimpun data penelitian. Tulisan ini menggunakan konsep Educational Project dan Piety Project untuk menjelaskan berjalannya sistem lembaga baik pengajaran, kurikulum, aktor-aktor dan idiologi yang berjalan di An-Nawawi Sarwodadi.

Madrasah becomes one of an educational institution in Indonesia which has a long history, besides a madrasah, there’s also an Islamic boarding school which most of it was built along with the madrasah. With the current development, madrasah becomes one of parents choice compared to other public schools. Islamization phenomenon coupled with the development of modernization becomes one of a promoter to the parents to schooling their child to the madrasah. But on the other side, some factors could affect it. A social actor who moves with their various ideologies becomes one of the main points that could change the paradigm about educational purposes that wants to achieve. The religious sectors either in the form of organization and religious teachings have greatly influenced the teaching process in an educational institution. An-Nawawi Sarwodadi with the three institutions available becomes one of the institutions which takes part in educational development in Indonesia. The phenomenon of piety and the educational projects available make the understanding of education different compared to public education. I am using the qualitative method and ethnography approach to accumulate the research data. This writing uses the concept of educational project and piety project to explain the operation of the system either the teachings, curriculum, actors, and ideologies running in An-Nawawi Sarwodadi."

"Tesis ini membahas transformasi identitas agama yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama di dalam novel Maryam karya Okky Madasari (2013). Identitas agama dalam novel Maryam yaitu: Ahmadiyah dan Islam (Islam pada umumnya). Pemaknaan identitas agama dalam oposisi biner identitas agama benar dan identitas agama sesat, oleh pemuka agama dan aparatus negara, menyebabkan terjadinya konflik identitas agama. Transformasi identitas agama sebagai strategi bertahan tokoh Maryam dalam konflik identitas agama tersebut, dianalisis dengan berbagai konsep identitas: Hall (1999), Gilroy (1999) dan Woodward (1999).

This thesis presents the transformation of religious identity performed by the main character in Okky Madasari?s work, Maryam (2013). Religious identities discussed in the novel namely: Ahmadiyah and Islam (Islam in general). Religious leaders and state apparatuses classify religious identities into righteous identity as opposed to deviant identity; such binary opposition leads to conflicts. Transformation of religious identity performed by Maryam as her strategy to survive in the conflicts is discussed with various identity concepts: Hall (1999), Gilroy (1999) and Woodward (1999)."
