ABSTRACT
This study aims to study the difference in wages of members and non-union members in Indonesia with 17,650 data. The details of the sample used are 1,855 samples are members of unions and 15,795 samples are non-union members aged 15-64 years from IFLS5 2014. The results of the Blinder-Oaxaca Decomposition on the difference in wages of members and non-union members show that union members get 0,40 log points higher than workers who are not union members, while in the formal sector the wage differential is higher, reaching 0.50 log points. The gap that occurs is explained by two main factors, namely the explained factor or the worker characteristics factor and the unexplained factor. Unexplained factors are other factors that are not included in the research model, such as job title and company characteristics. The factor contribution explained to the whole of workers contributes the most to the wage gap. In general, workers who are members of trade unions are concentrated on the male gender, have higher education, and live in urban areas."

ABSTRACT
This article discusses the impacts of industrial relations conflict on strengthening the functions of labour unions, by taking cases of conflicts between the labour union, Serikat Pekerja JICT SP JICT with PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II PT. Pelindo II regarding the extension of PT. Jakarta International Container Terminal PT JICT unilaterally conducted by PT. Pelindo II to Hutchison Port Holding Group. Previous studies shows that although conflict often has negative impacts on one or both sides of the conflicting parties, but conflict can also have a positive impact, especially for the group rsquo s unity. That view contains a weakness which previous studies only see the positive impact of the conflict through the meso level perspective only. This research can fill the shortage by looking at how conflict can build the identity of individuals who can further strengthen solidarity within the group. The author argues that conflict can build the identity of the individuals within the labour union and strengthen the bonds of solidarity among those individuals who, further can maintain the unity and attachment within the union, even industrial relations conflicts can help them to continue to maintain their existence and strengthen their function within the social structure."

"Based on comprehensive regression analysis, the authors find that weak wage growth and a smaller labour share of national income significantly reduce labour productivity growth. They conclude that supply-side labour market reforms have contributed to reducing labour productivity growth: this cannot be explained by a deregulation-induced inflow of low-productivity labour as proposed by OECD researchers. They also discuss why deregulation, easier firing and higher labour turnover may damage learning and knowledge accumulation in companies, notably by weakening the functioning of the “routinized” innovation model (“Schumpeter II”). Finally, their findings raise doubts about the relevance of Baumol's law and Verdoorn's law."
