"User education's primary purpose is to encourage the user of the library as part of the educational process. This dissertation discusses the user education programs in Indonesian universities and also explaining the background of the Indonesian university library and its educational system.Two case studies of user education carried out at the Bogor Agricultural University, serve as a base for designing user education programs in Indonesian universities. The programs also draw from Western countries' experiences and these are adapted to the Indonesian context. Some proposals are put forward in terms of user education programs for Indonesian universities including three levels of programs and their specifications. Ways of evaluation according to Indonesian needs and conditions are also offered."

"The growth of the Yogyakarta Urban Area (YUA) has led to an increasing of the microclimate, characterized by elevated temperatures. One of the efforts to decrease temperature is by establishing the development of Green Open Space (GOS). According to Law Number 26/2007 about Spatial Planning, a minimum of 30% of the total area must be designated as green open space. IKONOS satellite images taken in 2009 showed that GOS represented 43.36% of the total area for YUA. However, there are still areas which are characterized by high temperatures (more than 36.5o C). By applying Geographical Information System (GIS) analysis with an overlay technique among three factors such as canopy, building and population density, the priority zone for GOS development was identified. Based on the analysis, 38.82% of the area was designated as low priority for GOS development, 32.38% as middle priority, and 28.80% as very high priority to be developed as GOS. The land conversion is bigger and has high potency on private sector. GOS development needs to be established in the public sector, such as the creation of urban parks. Community empowerment strategies, application of incentive - disincentive mechanisms, and efforts towards GOS productivity improvement can encourage implementation."

"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini bertujuan untuk memahami kebutuhan informasi dan upayapemenuhan kebutuhan informasi remaja kota. Penelitian ini menggunakanpendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Hasil penelitian iniadalah identifikasi terhadap berbagai kebutuhan informasi pada diri remaja danupaya pemenuhannya. Remaja memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya denganmenggunakan sumber informasi seperti media elektonik, media cetak dan sumberinformasi manusia. Penelitian ini menyarankan bahwa perpustakaan seharusnyadapat menyediakan layanan khusus untuk remaja, memperluas atau menambahkanjenis informasi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan remaja dan membuat perpustakaanmenjadi trend dikalangan remaja.

ABSTRACTThis thesis aims to understand the needs of information for urban teenagers and

the effort to fulfill that needs. This study used a qualitative approach with the case

study method. The results of this research are the identification variety of

information needed by urban teenagers, and the effort to fulfill it. Teens try to

fulfill their information needs using information sources such as electronic media,

print media and human resources. This research suggests that the library provide

services especially for teenagers, expanding and adding any kind of information

that meet the needs of teenagers and making the library as a trend among teens."
