"Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya akar perbedaan yang menonjol dalam pemikiran politik Islam antara Islam Syi'ah dan Sunni tentang kekuasaan khususnya studi tentang sistem politik Republik Islam Iran dan Republik Islam Pakistan. Namun dalam pemikiran ini memiliki tujuan yang sama yaitu menciptakan negara Islam. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mencari jawaban seperti apa pemikiran politik Islam Syi'ah dan Sunni tentang kekuasaan? Serta bagaimana implikasi politik Islam Syi'ah dan Sunni terhadap Republik Islam Iran dan Republik Islam Pakistan?.
Sebagai kerangka teoritis, penelitian ini menggunakan teori kekuasaan politik, kepemimpinan politik Islam dan teori triass politika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan literatur.
Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan pemikiran Syi'ah dengan konsep Imamah-nya mampu memberikan terobosan dalam dunia Islam sejak revolusi Khomeini pada tahun 1979 hingga saat ini. Dengan kekuasaan para ulamanya di Republik Islam Iran negara tersebut telah menjadi power yang ditakuti oleh negara kuat lainnya seperti Amerika dan Israel. Begitu pula halnya dengan Islam Sunni, dimana konsep Khalifah dapat diimplementasikan pada suatu Negara di Pakistan yang sebagai Negara Republik Islam Pakistan sejak tahun 1970.
Implikasi sistem politik Islam ini menunjukkan bahwa politik kekuasaan dengan studi sistem politik Republik Islam Iran dan Republik Islam Pakistan menjadi tolak ukur seperti apa fakta yang terjadi dalam suatu negara yang dilahirkan berdasarkan pemikiran politik masing-masing keyakinan Islam Syi'ah dan Sunni. Implikasi politik ini juga menunjukkan berhasil atau tidaknya suatu teori itu diterapkan dalam sistem pemerintahan atau negara.

The study was backed by the roots by the difference that stands out in the political thought of Islam between Shiites and Sunnis about Islamic power in particular studies of the political system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In this thinking, however, have the same goal, namely to create an Islamic State. Therefore, this research was conducted to seek answers as to what the political thought of Islam Shi'ah and Sunnis about power? Political implications as well as how Shia and Sunnis against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan?.
As a theoretical framework, this research uses theories of political power, the political leadership of Islam and the theory of "triass politika". This research uses qualitative research methods to approach literature.
The findings in this research indicates the Shi'ah concept of Imamate thought with his capable of delivering breakthrough in the Islamic world since the Khomeini revolution in 1979 to the present. With the power of the ulamanya in the Islamic Republic of Iran the country has become dreaded by the State power firm more like America and Israel. Sunni Islam, in which the concept can be implemented in a Caliphate State the Country of Pakistan as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan since the 1970s.
The implications of the political system in Islam to show that political power with the study of the political system of the Islamic Republic Iran Islamic Republic of Pakistan and become a benchmark as to what facts that happened in a country that was born by virtue of their respective political thought Shia and Sunni beliefs. This also shows the political implications of successful or whether a theory is applied in the system of Government or the State."

"ABSTRACT
This study examines Fazlur Rahman's understanding of Islamic philosophy by
analyzing his attitude towards the works of Muslim philosophers and his belief in the value
of the Qur?an?s precepts. It pays specific attention to the relationship between his
understanding of philosophy and his method of interpreting the Qur?an, since in Rahman's
understanding, this method is the only means to satisfy the changing needs of society. It
explores Rahman?s definition of Islamic philosophy, which is strongly characterized by
three religious terms, iman, islam, and taqwa.
The thesis furthermore looks at the reasons why Rahman borrowed certain
philosophical expressions of the Muslim philosophers in his works when, at first glance,
their doctrines contradict Rahman?s cum position. Special attention is paid to his book
Major Themes ofthe Qur'an, wherein Rahman discusses human existence and his final
destiny through his interpretation of the Qur?an. The thesis concludes that Rahman?s
Islamic philosophy is a moral one, which is practically oriented and based on his
understanding ofthe Qur'an.

Abstract
Cette étude examine l?approache de Fazlur Rahman de la philosophic islamique en
analysant son attitude A l'éga.rd des ocuvres des philosophcs musulmans ainsi que les
convictions de l'auteur concemant la valeur des préceptes du Qur?an. Elle explore les
relations existant entre sa philosophic et sa méthode d?interprétation du Qur?an puisque,
selon le raisonnement de Rahman, cette méthode demeure le seul moyen puovant satisfaire
les besoins changeants de la société. De plus, l?étude explore la definition donnée par
Rahman de la philosophic islarnique, qui est fortemcnt caractérisée par trois termes rcligieux,
c?est-A-dire, l?.iman, l?islam et le taqwa.
Du plus, ce mémoire examine les motivations qui ont poussé Rahman, dans ses
oeuvres, it emprunter ccrtaines expressions utilisées par les philosophcs musulmans, puisque,
A premiere vue, cela semble contredire les positions prises par Rahman. Une attention
particulicre sera accorclée 5 son livre Major Themes ofthe Qur?an dans lequel Rahman
élabore sur l'existence humaine et l?ultime destin selon son interpretation du Qur?an. Ce
mémoire parvient a la conclusion que la philosophic islamiquc de Rahman est une
philosophic morale, qui est pratiquement oricntée et basée sur sa comprehension du Qur?an."

"Pada masa Orde Baru terjadi berbagai peristiwa penting yang melibatkan interaksi antara Islam dan Kristen di Indonesia. Peristiwa-peristiwa tersebut menunjukkan terjadinya ketegangan antara Islam dan Kristen di Indonesia. Para pemimpin dari kedua belah pihak terlibat dalam pergumulan. H.M. Rasjidi muncul sebagai tokoh intelektual Muslim yang memberikan pandangannya mengenai hubungan kedua agama. Tesis ini membahas pandangan H.M. Rasjidi mengenai relasi Islam dan Kristen pada masa Orde baru. Masalah yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana latar belakang pemikiran H.M. Rasjidi, bagaimana Rasjidi melihat relasi Islam dan Kristen serta bagaimana pandangan Rasjidi mempengaruhi wacana relasi Islam dan Kristen di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah yang terdiri dari tahapan heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Sumber-sumber yang digunakan adalah arsip-arsip, karya-karya H.M. Rasjidi yang tersebar dalam bentuk buku, makalah, dan artikel di media massa, serta pemberitaan media massa sezaman.  Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah teori strukturasi dari Anthony Giddens yang memandang adanya dualitas struktur. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pandangan H.M. Rasjidi dipengaruhi oleh struktur Islam dan Barat. Adapun pandangan H.M. Rasjidi mengenai relasi Islam dan Kristen pada masa Orde Baru adalah terjadinya penyebaran agama Kristen kepada orang-orang Islam dengan menyalahgunakan diakonia. Selain itu terjadi kesalahpahaman orang Kristen terhadap orang Islam yang menyebabkan umat Kristen selalu menghalangi keinginan umat Islam untuk menerapkan Syariat Islam. Rasjidi menjunjung tinggi kebebasan beragama sebagai  kebebasan menjalankan suatu agama dalam satu komunitas tanpa diganggu oleh upaya penyebaran agama lain. Pandangan Rasjidi memiliki pengaruh baik di kalangan Muslim maupun non Muslim.

During The New Order Era, there were various important events involving the interaction between Islam and Christianity in Indonesia. These events reflect the tension and mistrust between the two religions. Numerous leaders from both religions took part in the struggle. H.M. Rasjidi emerged as a Muslim intellectual figure who gave his views on the relationship between the two religions. This thesis discusses Mohammad Rasjidi's views on the relationship between Islam and Christianity in Indonesia during the New Order era. The problem raised in this research is how the background of H.M. Rasjidi's thinking, how Rasjidi saw the relationship between Islam and Christianity and how Rasjidi's views influence the discourse on the relationship between Islam and Christianity in Indonesia. This study uses historical methods consisting of heuristic, criticism, interpretation and historiography. This thesis takes sources from archives and literature written by Mohammad Rasjidi, in the form of books, papers, and articles in the mass media, as well as mass media reports. This study uses a structuration approach from Anthony Giddens which views the duality of structure. This research found that H.M. Rasjidi’s view was influenced by Islamic and Western structures. According to H.M. Rasjidi, the interaction between Islam and Christianity in New Order era was characterized by the abuse of diakonia in order to spread Christianity among Muslims. In addition, there was miscommunication between Christians and Muslims. In addition, there were misunderstandings between Muslims and Christians  which caused Christians to always hinder the wishes of Muslims to implement Islamic law. Rasjidi upholds religious freedom as the freedom to practice a religion in one community without being disturbed by efforts to spread other religions.
