"Style refers to ways of speaking, how speakers use the resource of language variation to make meaning in social encounters. This book develops a coherent theoretical approach to style in sociolinguistics, illustrated with copious examples. It explains how speakers project different social identities and create different social relationships through their style choices, and how speech-style and social context inter-relate. Style therefore refers to the wide range of strategic actions and performances that speakers engage in, to construct themselves and their social lives. Coupland draws on and integrates a wide variety of contemporary sociolinguistic research as well as his own extensive research in this field. The emphasis is on how social meanings are made locally, in specific relationships, genres, groups and cultures, and on studying language variation as part of the analysis of spoken discourse."

"This study adresses language style, different ways of communicating, and the purposes of communication of male and female in Twitter status. The objectives of the study are: a) to find out the dominant type of language style used by male and female; b) to describe the way of communicating between male and female; and c) to describe the purposes of communicating of male and female in Twitter status. The data were obtained from 20 male’s status and 20 females’ status in December 2012 until March 2013. The data were analyzed based on three theory, first is five language style according to Joos (1967), they are formal style, consultative style, frozen style, intimate style and casual style; second is the difference ways of communicating between male and female according to Tannen (l992), they are advice versus understanding , information versus feeling, and conflict versus compromise; third is purposes of Twitter conununication according to Patrick (2010), they are entertainment, integration into community, relationship maintenance, and identity construction. The findings show that: a) the dominant style used male in Twitter ststus is Consultative style which are ll status (55 %) because male express their status for their existency, integrity, their style and social status to show that they are not jobless while female dominantly used Casual style with 9 status (45 %) because most of woman write status for their existency in the community Twitter, to express their feeling, opinion and their
style; b) Male used advice which are 10 status (50 %) because most of man think logically, to show their responsibility and look wise while female dominantly used feeling which are 8 status (40 %) because most of woman think based on their feeling, emotionally, and expressively; c) The resons of communication of male and female in Twitter status are: identity construction, giving information, praying, showing feelings, and giving advice."

"ABSTRAK
Penggunaan gaya bahasa lazim ditemukan dalam lirik lagu bahasa Jepang. Maka dari itu, permasalahan yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah penggunaan gaya bahasa dalam lirik lagu bahasa Jepang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai penggunaan gaya bahasa dalam lirik lagu bahasa Jepang. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini ditentukan berdasarkan teknik snowball sampling, sedangkan macam data yang dijaring meliputi frasa dan klausa dalam lirik lagu bahasa Jepang yang mengandung gaya bahasa. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu identifikasi, klasifikasi, dan menemukan pola. Selanjutnya, penarikan kesimpulan dilakukan menggunakan metode induktif. Analisis data dijabarkan secara deskriptif dengan berlandaskan pada teori stilistika dan teori gaya bahasa oleh Seto Kenichi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat delapan macam gaya bahasa yang digunakan dalam lirik lagu pop bahasa Jepang tahun 2014-2018, yaitu metafora, simile, personifikasi, alusio, pertanyaan retoris, repetisi, inversi, dan hiperbola. Di antara delapan macam gaya bahasa tersebut, pertanyaan retoris adalah gaya bahasa yang kerap digunakan dalam lirik lagu bahasa Jepang.

ABSTRACT
The usage of style of language is commonly found in Japanese lyric song. Therefore, this research analyzed about the usage of style of language in Japanese lyric song. This research aimed to describe the usage of style of language in Japanese lyric song. The source of data was decided based on snowball sampling method, while the types of captured data were phrase and clause in Japanese lyric song which contained style of language. The analyzing of data had been done through three steps, which were identification, classification, and finding pattern. The analyzed data were explained in descriptive way based on stylistic theory and Seto Kenichi s style of language theory. The result of this research showed that there were eight types of style of language commonly used in Japanese lyric songs which released in 2014-2018. Those were metaphor, simile, personification, allusion, rhetorical question, repetition, inversion, and hyperbole. Among these types, rhetorical question was the style of language that was most commonly used in Japanese lyric song."

"Penelitian ini berfokus pada tiga lagu karya Jan Böhmermann yang berjudul : Besoffen bei Facebook, Wir sind Versandsoldaten dan Ich hab Polizei. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori semantik Patrick Griffiths untuk menganalisis makna dalam satire pada lagu-lagu karya Jan Bohmermann. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa potongan-potongan lirik berunsur satire dari tiga lagu Jan Bohmermann. Secara umum satire adalah instrumen linguistik yang digunakan untuk menunjukkan dan memberikan kritik terhadap norma, moral, dan irasionalitas pada individu dan masyarakat. Tema-tema lagu karya Jan Böhmermann sangat dekat dengan kehidupan masyarakat di Jerman dalam empat tahun terakhir. Kritik sosial akan tumbuh sebagai sebuah pembelaan akan kebenaran dan keadilan. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini ialah penerapan jenis satire Juvenalian dalam lirik lagu-lagu Jan Bohmermann.
The research focuses on three songs by Jan Böhmermann titled: Besoffen bei Facebook, Wir sind Versandsoldaten and Ich hab Polizei. The study used the semantic theory of Patrick Griffiths to analyse the meaning of satire on songs by Jan Bohmermann. The Data in this study contained satire lyrical pieces of the three songs of Jan Bohmermann. In general satire is a linguistic instrument used to demonstrate and provide criticism of norms, morals, and irrationality in individuals and communities. The themes of the song by Jan Bohmermann are very close to German people life in the last four years. Social criticism will grow as a defense of truth and justice. The conclusion derived from this study was the implementation of the type of the Juvenalian satire in the lyrics of the songs of Jan Bohmerman."
