"Penggunaan dialek literatur dalam karya sastra telah dilakukan sejak lama. Ketika dilakukan penerjemahan, akan terjadi sebuah masalah dalam dialek tersebut karena dialek tersebut mengandung latar belakang sosial dan budaya dari teks sumber. Karya tulis ini mengambil terjemahan Bahasa Indonesia dari dialek dan aksen yang terdapat di novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yang diterjemahkan oleh Listiana Srisanti dan diterbitkan oleh Gramedia Pustaka Utama di tahun 2008. Karya tulis ini bertujuan untuk melihat strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan untuk menerjemahkan dialek dan aksen yang berbeda di dalam novel tersebut dan penahanan fungsi dari dialek literatur. Data dalam karya studi ini dikelompokkan berdasarkan dialek dan aksen dan kategori Penanda Dialek oleh Dimitrova (2004) untuk dianalisa lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa strategi penerjemahan yang digunakan adalah strategi standardisasi. Penanda dari setiap dialek dan aksen dipertahankan dalam versi terjemahan melalui berbagai cara, seperti menggunakan pengejaan yang disesuaikan dengan aksen dan juga pelanggaran aturan tata bahasa Bahasa Indonesia. Akan tetapi, fungsi dialek literatur dalam versi terjemahan tidak begitu dipertahankan karena penokohan yang ada di dalam novel ini terlihat melalui pernyataan eksplisit oleh penulis dan bukan implikasi dari penggunaan dialek dan aksen.

Literary dialects, or the use of dialects in literary works, have been featured in the literary works for quite a long time. Problems may arise when translation takes place in the literary dialects as they impose social and cultural backgrounds. This study takes on the Indonesian translation of the dialect and accent in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows done by Listiana Srisanti published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2008. It aims to see the used translation strategy as well as the maintaining of the function of literary dialect. Data are grouped according to the different dialects and accents and the Dialectical Markers proposed by Dimitrova (2004) to be analysed. Study finds that the translation strategy used in the novel is standardisation strategy. The markedness of each dialect and accent is pertained by using various approaches, such as the maintaining in several altered spellings and violation in Indonesian grammatical rules. However, the function of literary dialect is not thoroughly maintained, as characterisations alike are found in the explicit statements and not implied by the dialect and accent usage."
