"Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui relasi kuasa yang terdapat dalam novel grafis 'Embroideries' oleh Marjane Satrapi. Dibingkai dengan teori-teori dalam studi gender yang secara khusus berfokus pada gagasan The Second Sex oleh Simon de Bevouir dan Relasi Kuasa oleh Foucault, penelitian ini menganalisa relasi kekuasaan yang terkandung dalam narasi. Hubungan kekuasaan yang tercermin dari kisah kehidupan tiga wanita generasi Iran yang, dalam hidup mereka, menjalani frustrasi terhadap diskriminasi gender, penindasan, dan KEKERASAN hak asasi manusia.Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa jenis relasi kekuasaan yang sangat rumit karena mereka tidak hanya mewakili kekuatan yang tidak seimbang antara laki-laki dan perempuan, tetapi juga di kalangan laki-laki, perempuan, gadis, timur, barat dan wanita. Temuan ini juga mengungkapkan bahwa ada respon khas ditunjukkan dengan wanita yang tertekan terhadap diskriminasi. Sebaliknya jelas melawan penindasan tersebut, para wanita ini melakukan strategi manipulatif untuk menjalani hidup yang menarik tanpa harus menunjukkan ketahanan terhadap suami, keluarga, dan masyarakat. Hal ini dapat juga diartikan sebagai kinerja kebebasan dalam masyarakat terbatas dan dibatasi.

The purpose of this research is to figure out the power relation in the graphic novel Embroideries by Marjane Satrapi. Framed with the theories in gender studies that specifically focus on the idea of The Second Sex by Simon de Bevouir and The Power Relation by Foucault, this research analayzes the power relation contained in the narration. The power relations are reflected from the life stories of three generation Iranian women who were, in their life, undergoing frustration towards gender discrimination, oppression, and human right violance.The findings reveal that there are several types of power relation that are very complicated because they don't only represent unequal power between men and women but also among men, women, girl, east, and west women. The finding also reveals that there is a distinctive response showed by the opressed women towards the discrimination. Instead clearly fighting against the opression, these women were doing manipulative strategies in order to lead an exciting life without having to show their resistance to their husbands, family, and society. This can be also interpreted as the performance of freedom in constrained and restricted society."

"ABSTRAKOkja 2017 adalah film fiksi ilmiah yang diproduksi oleh Netflix dan disutradarai oleh seorang sutradara Korea, Bong Joonho. Film ini menceritakan perjalanan seorang anak perempuan Korea yang menyelamatkan peliharaannya yang berupa babi buatan dari penciptanya, Mirando Corp. Film ini memilih pemain dari berbagai latar belakang ras, baik orang kulit putih maupun orang kulit berwarna people of color . Meskipun film ini memiliki pemain dan karakter dari latar belakang ras yang beragam, stereotip tersembunyi dan distribusi kekuasaan yang tidak merata dapat ditemui di film ini. Melalui konsep stereotip dan relasi kuasa, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis stereotip rasial tersembunyi dan relasi kuasa yang tidak setara dengan melihat adegan dan dialog film.

ABSTRACTOkja 2017 is a science fiction film produced by Netflix and directed by a Korean director, Bong Joonho. It tells the journey of a young Korean girl rescuing her artificial pet pig from its creator, Mirando Corp. The movie casts people from various racial backgrounds as the characters mdash both white people and people of color. Despite casting people and characters from different racial backgrounds, covert stereotypes and inequitable power distribution exist throughout the movie. Through the concept of stereotyping and power relation, this paper aims to analyze the hidden racial stereotypes and unequal power distribution within the film by looking at the scenes and the dialogues."

In The Heights 2008 adalah salah satu karya teater musikal Broadway populer yang mencoba untuk melawan gambaran stereotipikal orang-orang Latin. Melalui analisis karakter menggunakan konsep tiga kategori representasi perempuan Latin milik Keller 1994 , penelitian ini menganalisa representasi perempuan Latin dalam karakter Nina Rosario. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa representasi yang ada merupakan sebuah bentuk perlawanan terhadap stereotip perempuan Latin.

ABSTRACTWhile recent studies have analysed the perpetuation of Latina stereotypes in American popular culture, few research have discussed about the defiance against the stereotypes represented by certain Latina characters. The popular Broadway musical In The Heights 2008 is one of the works that tries to challenge the stereotypical portrayal of Latinos. By doing character analysis using Keller rsquo s three types of Latina representations 1994 , this paper attempts to analyse the Latina representation in the character Nina Rosario. It found that the representation manifests an act of defiance against the perpetuation of Latina stereotypes."

"Maksud utama dari penulisan makalah ini adalaMaksud utama dari penulisan makalah ini adalah untuk menganalisis stereotip rasial yang tersembunyi antara orang kulit hitam dan orang kulit putih dalam film The Blind Side dengan mengidentifikasi karakter-karakter di film tersebut. Stereotip, yang dilakukan oleh sekelompok orang terhadap kelompok lain, terdapat tidak hanya di dalam kehidupan nyata namun juga di dalam karya-karya fiksi seperti film. Pada film The Blind Side, stereotip rasial berada dalam lapisan tersembunyi. Kemiskinan dan bentuk lain dari stereotip terhadap orang kulit hitam seperti penggambaran orang kulit hitam sebagai pihak yang inferior, dan gagasan mengenai orang kulit hitam sebagai ancaman dalam film tampaknya dapat diterima oleh kedua ras. The main intention of this paper is to analyze the hidden racial stereotyping between blacks and whites in The Blind Side by identifying the characters. Stereotyping, which is done by a group of people about other groups, exists in both the real life and fictional works like films. In The Blind Side, the existence of racial stereotyping is in a hidden layer. Poverty and other forms of stereotype toward blacks such as black's portrayal as the inferior one, and the notion of blacks as a threat in the film seem acceptable to both races. This undoubtedly strengthens the idea of the stereotype toward blacks. The paper sheds light on understanding how racial stereotyping in the movie can be very subtly conveyed, and therefore there is always a possibility that such subtlety also exists in society."

"Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi tokoh Latina dengan meneliti Season 1 drama komedi televisi AS, Devious Maids. Sejak kemunculannya, serial ini telah menjadi kontroversi, baik di dalam maupun di luar komunitas Latin karena menampilkan kehidupan lima tokoh Latinas yang bekerja sebagai pembantu rumah tangga di Beverly Hills. Penggambaran yang demikian dikhawatirkan akan memperkuat stereotip negatif Latina. Namun, close reading pada lima tokoh Latina menunjukkan bahwa serial TV ini menawarkan hal yang lebih. Serial ini membuat tokoh Latina "terlihat" melalui upaya "decentering white dan menempatkan tokoh Latina sebagai karakter utama serta pada saat yang sama mendekonstruksi beberapa stereotip Latina. Beberapa konsep, seperti kategorisasi stereotip Latina dan "decentering white" digunakan untuk menginterpretasi serial tersebut. Hasil dari analisis skripsi menunjukkan bahwa meskipun terdapat upaya untuk membuat Latina "terlihat", serial ini belum sepenuhnya membalikkan stereotip Latina.

This undergraduate thesis aims to analyze the representation of Latinas by examining the first season of US television drama comedy, Devious Maids. The show has been a controversy either within or outside Latin community since it represents the lives of five Latinas working as maids in Beverly Hills that appears to reinforce the negative stereotypes of Latinas. However, a close reading on all five Latina characters shows that the TV series offers more. The show gives visibility to the Latinas by decentering the white characters and putting the Latinas as main characters while at the same time deconstructing some Latina stereotypes. Some concepts, such as Latina stereotype categorizations and decentering white were used in interpreting the text. This thesis also discusses the representation of Latinas regarding sexuality issue and finds ambivalence in it. The result of the analysis shows that even though visibility is given to the Latina characters, the show has not fully deconstructed the stereotypes of Latina."

"Artikel ini membahas mengenai stereotip yang dilekatkan pada perempuan dalam lagu Victime de La Mode karya Mc. Solaar. Stereotip perempuan akan ditunjukkan melalui analisis isi menggunakan pendekatan struktural. Berdasarkan pendekatan struktural, teks lagu dianalisis dari segi makna. Analisis makna dilakukan dengan meneliti segi pragmatik dan segi semantik. Metode yang digunakan untuk analisis data adalah kualitatif. Makna didapat dari hasil analisis data dengan pemaknaan lirik lagu berdasarkan diksi. Hasil analisis data berdasarkan pemaknaan lirik lagu dikaitkan dengan konsep stereotip menurut David J. Schneider. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa stereotip yang melekat pada wanita adalah yang berkaitan dengan keindahan fisik dan mengabaikan logika dan kecerdasan intelektual. Perempuan terkungkung dalam sistem partriarkal yang membentuk nilai sosial. Nilai tersebut lantas disebarkan melalui beragam media sosial.

This article discusses about the stereotypes attached to women in Victime de La Mode song by Mc. Solaar. Stereotypes of women will be demonstrated through content analysis using a structural approach. Based on structural approach, the text is analyzed in terms of the meaning of the song. The analysis is done by examining the meaning of terms of pragmatic and semantic aspects. The method used for data analysis is qualitative. Meaning derived from the analysis of data with lyrics’ meaning by diction. The results of the data analysis are based on the meaning of the lyrics of the songs associated with the concept of stereotypes according to David J. Schneider. The results of this study indicate that the stereotypes attached to women are associated with physical beauty and ignore logic and intelligence. Woman trapped in patriarchal systems that shape social values and pass it through a variety of social media."

"Salah satu periode sinema yang mengutamakan isu sosial di Prancis adalah sinema Prancis kontemporer. Dalam periode ini, segala aspek yang mendukung perfilman di negara tersebut sudah berkembang ke arah yang lebih modern dan menarik perhatian banyak masyarakat. Salah satu filmnya adalah Entre Les Murs, sebuah film karya Laurent Cantet yang menceritakan kehidupan sehari-hari sebuah sekolah di banlieue Prancis. Dalam film ini, diperlihatkan bahwa muridnya terdiri dari berbagai macam ras yang memiliki permasalahannya masing-masing. Melalui permasalahan antarras di sekolah banlieue, film ini menunjukkan konflik sosial yang terjadi di Prancis. Penelitian ini membahas tentang kehadiran citra dan prasangka tokoh Souleymane yang memunculkan stereotip rasnya, sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menunjukkan bagaimana citra dan prasangka terhadap suatu individu atau kelompok dapat melahirkan sebuah konflik pada praktiknya. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua teori, yakni teori sinema (2008) oleh Dennis W. Petrie dan Joseph M. Boggs dan teori prasangka (2018) oleh Alo Liliweri untuk membantu analisis strategi naratif film Entre Les Murs dan pembentukan stereotip ras kulit hitam melalui citra dan prasangka terhadap tokoh Souleymane. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sikap dan citra negatif tokoh Souleymane memunculkan berbagai perspektif dan prasangka yang berujung pada pembentukan stereotip terhadap kelompok rasnya.

One of the periods of cinema that prioritized social issues in France is contemporary French cinema. In this period, all aspects that support film in this country have developed in a more modern way and attracted the attention of many people. One of the films is Entre Les Murs, a film by Laurent Cantet that tells about the daily life of a school in banlieue France. In this film, it is shown that the students consist of various races who have their own problems. Through interracial problems at the banlieue school, this film shows the social conflicts that occur in France. This study discusses the presence of images and prejudices of the Souleymane character which give rise to his racial stereotypes, so the purpose of this research is to show how images and prejudices against an individual or group can create a conflict in practice. This study uses two theories, namely the theory of cinema (2008) by Dennis W. Petrie and Joseph M. Boggs and the theory of prejudice (2018) by Alo Liliweri to help analyze the narrative strategy of the film Entre Les Murs and the formation of stereotypes of the black race through imagery and prejudice against the character of Souleymane. The result of this study is that a character of Souleymane’s negative attitude and image can create various prejudices and lead to the formation of stereotypes against his racial group."

"Artikel ini membahas representasi imigran kulit hitam di Prancis melalui tokoh Hassan dan Sophie dalam film cerita pendek Place des Fêtes karya Oliver Schmitz. Place des Fêtes adalah salah satu sekuen yang ada dalam film Paris, Je t’aime. Stereotip dan konteks sosial di Prancis menjadi faktor pendukung dalam merepresentasikan tokoh tersebut. Hassan digambarkan sebagai sosok yang dominan berstereotip negatif, sedangkan Sophie memunculkan stereotip positif. Tidak hanya melalui aspek naratif saja, film ini juga dianalisis melalui aspek sinematografis yang juga berperan penting dalam pemaknaan.

This article discusses the representation of black immigrant in France through the characters of Hassan and Sophie in the work of Oliver Schmitz short film, Place Des Fêtes. Place des Fetes is one of the sequences in the film Paris, Je t'aime. Stereotype and social context in France are contributing factors in representing the figures. Hassan is described as a dominant negative stereotype, whereas Sophie shows positive stereotypes. Not only through the narrative aspect, the film is also analyzed through the cinematographic aspect which also an important role in interpreting."
