"Diabetes melitus merupakan sekelompok kelainan heterogen yang ditandai oleh kenaikan kadar glukosa dalam darah yang disebabkan oleh kemampuan tubuh untuk bereaksi terhadap insulin menurun atau pankreas menghentikan produksi insulin. Diabetes melitus adalah salah satu penyakit kronis yang dapat menyebabkan munculnya masalah psikososial seperti ketidakberdayaan. Karya ilmiah ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan asuhan keperawatan ketidakberdayaan pada pasien yang mengalami penyakit diabetes mellitus tipe 2, khususnya metode latihan berpikir positif. Latihan berpikir positif dapat mengarahkan seseorang untuk mampu berpikir secara positif kembali sehingga peran perawat penting dalam menerapkan asuhan keperawatan psikososial. Jika tidak segera ditangani, ketidakberydayaan dapat menyebabkan keputusasaan.

Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by increased in blood glucose level caused by the body's ability to respond to insulin decreased or pancreatic insulin production halt. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic illness that contribute to psychosocial problem such as powerlessness.

This paper purposed to describe nursing care of powerlessness on the patient with diabetes mellitus type 2, especially positive thinking exercise method. Positive thinking exercise can lead someone to be able to think positively again so that nurse’s role is important in implementing psychosocial nursing care. If powerlessness is not treated immediately, it can lead to hopelessness."
