The 1980s era was best known as the era of literature in South Korea, poem in particular. Park Nohae as one of the poet from that era has faced the struggle of laborers during Park Chunghee and Chun Doohwans regime. In his first book collection of poems entitled Nodong ui Saebyeok, Dawn of Labor, Park Nohae has written many poems that told about the laborers struggles and their feelings about the regime in many symbolic meanings to criticize the Chun Doo Hwans government. By using the qualitative method of analysis, the researcher found that two poems titled Haneul dan Heokkaebi from Park Nohaes first book have specific symbol to deliver laborers criticism toward the government. As the result of this research is that Haneul and Heokkaebi contained the same way to describe people whom have powers in government and those who have good education as someone whose scary and speaks nonsense in front of the mass. To give more meanings to those poems, Park Nohae used a symbol which is the same as the title, sky and illution."

Translation of literary works has its own challenges from various factors such as language style and cultural content. Therefore, the translation of Saidjah-Adinda's poems in Multatuli's novel Max Havelaar is interesting to discuss. The data used in this study were sourced from the Dutch version of the seventeenth chapter of Max Havelaar's novel, the Indonesian translation by H. B. Jassin (TSa 1) and Ingrid Dwijani Nimpoeno (TSa 2), and the English translation by Baron Alphonse Nahuys (TP). The data is in the form of two poems by Saidjah-Adinda in Dutch, two versions in Indonesian and in English. The theory used in this study is Mona Baker's theory regarding translation strategies at the word level. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher will mark the words in the source text which are not literally translated along with their translations, then compare the words in the source language with their translations in the target language using the help of three dictionaries in Dutch, English and Indonesian. The researcher will then analyze the strategies used by translators based on Baker's translation theory at the word level. Based on data analysis, there are four of Baker's eight translation strategies used in translating two poems from chapter seventeen of Max Havelaar's novel. As a result of relay translation, semantically Nimpoeno's translation (TSa 2) is not that far from Jassin's translation (TSa 1). This cannot be separated from the role of Nahuys' translation as an intermediary for the translation of TSa 2."
