"This book explores the implications of urbanization and climate change for peri-urban water security in South Asia. Focusing on four locations in the region, namely Kathmandu (Nepal), Khulna (Bangladesh), and Hyderabad and Gurgaon (India), the book describes how climate change and urbanization shape peri-urban water security. The research documents the socio-technical mediation of water insecurity, describing both technological and institutional adaptive responses. In describing adaptation, the focus is both on planned and autonomous adaptation. The book further documents the differential vulnerabilities of peri-urban communities, describing the factors that disadvantage certain men, women, and groups of people as compared to others. With a focus on peri-urban contexts, the book bridges an important gap in current studies of adaptation and vulnerability to the impacts of climate change that tend to focus on purely agrarian or urban contexts. It thus contributes to the emerging body of work on peri-urban issues as well as to the literature on vulnerability and adaptation. The research presented is interdisciplinary in nature, employing a wide range of research tools and methods across the natural and social sciences."

Burke, Anthony
"Rarely has security been such a preoccupation of Australian politics, and rarely has it seemed so far from being achieved. This celebrated book argues that security has dominated and distorted Australia's foreign policy and national life, from Cook's first voyage to the Tampa crisis, 9/11 and Iraq. Whether in the Great War, Vietnam or the treatment of asylum seekers, Anthony Burke shows that Australia's security has been bought with the insecurity and suffering of others. Against this corrosive tradition, he offers a new - cosmopolitan and non-coercive - model of national existence and responsibility. At once a deep historical survey and an argument with its society, Fear of Security is a landmark account of how Australia relates to itself, its region and the world. Turning powerful academic and political orthodoxies on their heads, it is essential reading for those concerned with the burning questions that face Australia and the Asia-Pacific."

"Traces changes in the concept of security in Asia from realist to cooperative, comprehensive, and human security approaches, and assesses a number of policy alternatives to management of both old and new security threats. This book concludes that traditional security approaches remain valid but need to be adapted to the new challenges"

The idea of the establishment of ASEAN Political Security Community APSC in 2015 is a manifestation of security pillar which is one of the pillars that support ASEAN Community The establishment of this security community is an interesting phenomenon as it is created in a region that consists of states with similar military capabilities as the region does not possess regional hegemon.
This research focuses on the question why the maturation of ASEAN Political Security Community APSC is followed by the arms proliferation of ASEAN member states. It also explains the linkage between the maturation of APSC and the arms dynamics in Southeast Asia as well as the level of interaction among the two variables."

konsultan Departemen Pertahanan AS mengenai aktifitas China yang semakin
polaritas menjadi variabel independen, variabel batasan geografis, struktur anarki,

Abstract
This Thesis focus on the impact of String of Pearls concept (originated from a
2005 report for US Defense Ministry by Booz allen Hamilton about the increasing
China activity in Indian Ocean) for regional security dynamics. With Buzan?s
regional security complex theory (RSCT) as the basis, about the significance and
authonomy of regional securitylevel, the author try to find out the impact of real
form of String of Pearls for the composing variables of East Asia and South Asia
security complex. With the using of regional security complex variables (as
explained by Buzan), the autor conduct a quantitative research to answer the
research question, where String of Pearls as polarity variable become independent
variable and measured with Bueno De Mesquita?s systemic polarity measurement
method. Boundary, anarchic structure, and amity/enmity pattern as intervening
variable and security complex transformation as dependent variable. In this
research, the author found that String of Pearls causes external transformation of
East and South Asia security complex and formed a fully pledges Asia security
complex. This happened because the increasing of India?s absolute power and
interaction capacity, while at the same time there were activities of strengthening
and expanding quasi alliance networking between US allies and hedging towards
China as a respond of the increasing of China sea power capability. Because of
that, India become the part of East Asia polarity structure, and with that the
boundary between East and South Asia melted and the external transformation
occurred."
