"The study of the relationship between language and thought, and how this apparently differs between cultures and social groups, is a rapidly expanding area of inquiry. In this book Giovanni Bennardo discusses the relationship between language and the mental organization of knowledge, based on the results of a fi eldwork project carried out in the Kingdom of Tonga in Polynesia. It challenges some existing assumptions in linguistics, cognitive anthropology and cognitive science and proposes a new foundational cultural model, ‘radiality’, to show how space, time, and social relationships are expressed both linguistically and cognitively. A foundational cultural model is knowledge that is repeated in several domains and shared within a culturally homogeneous group. These knowledge structures are lenses through which we interpret the world and guide our behavior"

"Skripsi ini membahas tentang tingkat pemertahanan Bahasa Jawa Dialek Tegal (BJDT) bagi pedagang Warung Tegal (Warteg) di Jakarta Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik wawancara berstruktur dengan analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif.Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa tingkat pemertahanan BJDT responden cukup tinggi, yaitu sebesar 78,03% dalam situasi tanpa orang ketiga dan 68,94% dalam situasi hadir orang ketiga. Hal itu karena banyaknya orang Tegal yang tinggal di Jakarta dan tingginya loyalitas bahasa orang-orang Tegal. Namun, ditemukan indikasi bahwa responden mulai meninggalkan BJDT saat berbicara dengan anaknya.

This thesis discussed about degree of Tegal Javanese Dialect (TJD) maintenance of warteg owner in South Jakarta. The research used a structured interview technique with quantitative and qualitative analysis.The study result that respondents have high degree of TJD maintenance, amounting to 78,03% when without-third-person situation and 68,94% when with-third-person situation. That?s because many people who live in Jakarta come from Tegal and having high loyality of TJD. However, there were indications that the respondent began to leave TJD when talking to her son."

"Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai respons verbal anak Jepang usia 2-4 tahun terhadap ujaran direktif orang tua. Korpus dalam penelitian ini adalah reality show dari stasiun tv Jepang, NTV yang berjudul Hajimete no Otsukai Suruhan Pertama Orang Tua. Alasan pemilihan korpus ini adalah i percakapan antara orang dewasa dan anak tidak dibuat-buat dan tidak diatur, sehingga partisipan tutur dapat berbicara dengan bebas tanpa bergantung pada naskah, ii partisipan tutur yang beragam, setiap episode terdiri dari orang dewasa dan anak yang berbeda sehingga cara anak dalam merespons ujaran pun berbeda, iii variasi topik percakapan, mengenai keseharian antara orang dewasa dan anak usia 2-4 tahun. Penelitian ini menemukan tiga buah rangkaian respons anak usia 2-4 tahun terhadap ujaran direktif, yakni i rangkaian respons menerima, ii rangkaian respons menolak, dan iii rangkaian respons menolak menerima. Dari analisis rangkaian ujaran tersebut, rangkaian respons anak usia 2-4 tahun atas ujaran direktif memperlihatkan realitas pengungkapan respons. Ada anak yang segera menerima ujaran direktif, ada anak yang menolak, ada pula anak yang menolak terlebih dahulu sebelum menerima.

This study examines the verbal response of Japanese children age 2-4 year old to adult directive utterance. The corpus of this study is Japanese reality show from NTV tv station entitled Hajimete no Otsukai My First Errands . The reasons for selecting this corpus are i the conversation between adult children isn scripted, so that participants can speak freely, ii various speech participants, each episodes have different adult and children so that children response to utterance is dissimilar, iii variations of conversational topics, about daily life between adult and 2-4 year old children.

This study establish three response sequences that 2-4 year old compose to directive utterance, i response sequence of agreement, ii response sequence of disagreement, and iii response sequence of disagreement and then agreement. From the investigation shows that children age 2-4 year old frame about reality of the response disclosure to adult directive utterance. There are children who immediately accepting directive utterance, there are children who turned down directive utterance, and there is also children whocbeing disapproval before being cooperation to directive utterance. "
