"[Computer-aided nonlinear control system design provides such an approach based on the use of describing functions. The text deals with a large class of nonlinear systems without restrictions on the system order, the number of inputs and/or outputs or the number, type or arrangement of nonlinear terms. The strongly software-oriented methods detailed facilitate fulfillment of tight performance requirements and help the designer to think in purely nonlinear terms, avoiding the expedient of linearization which can impose substantial and unrealistic model limitations and drive up the cost of the final product.
Design procedures are presented in a step-by-step algorithmic format each step being a functional unit with outputs that drive the other steps. This procedure may be easily implemented on a digital computer with example problems from mechatronic and aerospace design being used to demonstrate the techniques discussed. The author?s commercial MATLAB®-based environment, available separately from insert URL here, can be used to create simulations showing the results of using the computer-aided control system design ideas characterized in the text.;Computer-aided nonlinear control system design provides such an approach based on the use of describing functions. "In this paper a new current comparator architecture is presented, which utilizes the concept of nonlinear feedback to speed up the operation. The analytical formulation for quantifying the effect of the feedback is put forward. The functionality of the proposed comparator is verified using simulations carried out on an Orcad Pspice tool using Taiwan Semiconductors Manufacturing Company (TSMC) 0.18 µm technology parameters. The resolution and delay are found to be ± 10 nA and 1.48 ns, respectively at a reference current of 1µA. The effects of parameter variations on the performance of the proposed comparator at different design corners is also studied. The usefulness of the proposed comparator is demonstrated through a 3-bit current mode flash Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) and its performance parameters are also calculated using simulations. The simulation results show that the 3-bit current mode flash Analog to Digital Converter exhibits no missing codes and has Differential Non-Linearity (DNL) of -0.25 Least Significant Bit (LSB) and Integral Non-Linearity (INL) of -0.19 LSB."

The term equilibrium line (assembly line balancing) is a method of assignment of a job into work stations interconnected in a production line where each work station has a time not exceeding the cycle time from the work station. Linkage amount of work within a production line must be considered in determining the division of labor with other jobs. Links between this work is described in a relationship diagram (precedence diagram), while the relationship between job is called job precedence or precedence network. Heuristic methods are one of the ways commonly used in real life to solve the problem of the balance of these assembly-line trajectory. In this thesis, an efficient heuristic method is used to solve the problem of balancing assembly line with a deterministic approach and a single model. The heuristic method is heuristic methods Genetic Algorithms. Genetic algorithms are used to solve the problem of balancing lines assembly line was formed with the specific chromosome structure and applied through MATLAB software. The results of the calculation of the balance lines assembly line using Genetic Algorithms will be compared with the balance of the assembly line of the track that has been applied by one of the automotive factory. Genetic Algorithm method proved to produce a balance line assembly line is more optimal than the old equilibrium line. It can be proved by comparing the number of work stations, the efficiency of the track, and the value of smoothness."

The increasing growth of automotive industry in Indonesia has not been matched by the number of local suppliers and makes the automotive industry too dependent on imported raw materials. Along with the needs of import activities, it is also required a greater logistics activities. However, with high logistics costs, the manufacturer must increase efficiency to be able compete in the global market. This can be accomplished by planning inbound logistics activities that control the movement of materials from suppliers to the manufacture.
In this research, an optimization methodology, based on Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming MINLP approach is developed and solved with branch and bound algorithm.
The result of this research, which obtained the total cost of optimal inbound logistics include material cost, transportation cost, and administration cost. This model can also be used as a tool for the company in making decisions about the type and the number of container also with the total of the optimal material load in each container, therefore the optimal container space utilization value can be obtained.

"Recent literature in automotive research indicates that studies of the environmental impact mostly concern metal-based components. Environmental effects are mainly analyzed using “environmental performance indicators” and “life cycle assessment” techniques. Therefore, a knowledge gap in the field of studying automotive plastic components should be conducted based on analyzing material and manufacturing processes selection at the design stage. The research is focused on a plastic component previously unexplored and analyzed using tools that have not been employed for this application. A computer-aided tool was used to model the part and its associated sustainability function was used to analyze its environmental impact. The component was analyzed using different materials and manufacturing processes, then redesigned to be more ergonomic. The improved component design was manufactured using rapid prototyping and a consumer preference survey was conducted to determine which component was preferred. The research found that by changing the material to high-density polyethylene there would be approximately a 30% reduction in carbon footprint, 24% reduction in air acidification, 26% reduction in water eutrophication and 15% reduction in total energy consumption. Injection molding is found to be the most sustainable manufacturing process."
