"This book focuses on the singular situation in Israel, whose complex multiculturalism has Hebrew and Arabic as official languages, English as an academic and political language, and tongues such as Russian and Amharic spoken by immigrants.
Presenting research on bi- and trilingualism in Israel from a multitude of perspectives . The book focuses on four aspects of multilingualism and literacy in Israel, Arabic-Hebrew bilingual education and Arabic literacy development, second-language Hebrew literacy among immigrant children, literacy in English as a second and third language, and adult bilingualism. Chapters dissect findings on immigrant youth education, language impairment in bilinguals, and neurocognitive features of bilingual language processing. This book integrates linguistics, sociology, education, cognitive science, and neuroscience."

"This paper discusses how the concept of ?bilingualism? can
be used to reflect changes within Bruneian society since the
1940?s. It argues that within the context of a linguistically
diverse population, the various indigenous groups of Brunei
used to speak their own traditional languages, but eventually
learned to speak the language of the politically dominant
Malays. The Malay language became a necessary additional
language, hence leading to a population which could speak
their own languages, alongside the Malay language. But the
rise of schools teaching in English in the 1970?s began to
sow seeds of a different kind of bilingualism, encouraged by
language shift processes among ethnic minority groups."

"This book will examine current issues and controversies in the design of clinical trials, including topics in adaptive and sequential designs, the design of correlative genomic studies, the design of studies in which missing data is anticipated. Each chapter will be written by an expert conducting research in the topic of that chapter. As a collection, the chapters would be intended to serve as a guidance for statisticians designing trials."

Whorfian view that language influences the thought still shows the results of pros and cons. This experimental study was conducted to examine the effect of language on thought through the event perception. The first independent variables in this study were languages with variations of Indonesian and English language groups. The second independent variable, is the type of event is given in the formof a paired image representation with variations of the same event of different actors or the same actors with different event. Participants were asked to make anassessment based on the similarity of the pair of type of events.
The researchers used a measuring and manipulating tool adapted from Boroditsky 2001. Instructions are given in Indonesian for Indonesian groups and English for English groups. Overall, the results of the study showed significantly higher meanvalues on different tense same actors DTSA images in English groups than Indonesian groups. The average value of the same tense different actor STDA English group was not significantly lower in the Indonesian language group. In this research there is no significant interaction effect between language groups with event perception.
