Hasilnya, sebagian besar mahasiswa tidak memahami aturan pelafalan enchaînement dan liaison, terutama enchaînement vocalique.ABSTRACT Enchaînement and liaison are the unique of sounds in French which do not exist in Indonesian that are able to cause the interference when the Indonesian students learn French.

This article examines the effectiveness of virelangue as a strategy to overcome phonetic
interference in beginners who have never studied French. This case studies qualitative research
used pre-test and post-test strategies to see the development of research subjects’
pronunciations from each trials, then analysed using phonetic and phonological theory by Léon
(1993) and Chaer (2009), the analysis of language errors by Tarigan & Tarigan (2011), and the
theory of interference by Weinreich (2011). The results indicate that there is interference
between Indonesian and English with the form of phonetic treatment of borrowed words. This
happens because the research subjects are able to speak English well. The most difficult sounds
to pronounce are [ɛ] and [ʒ]. Due to the limited knowledge of the research subjects, there is also ̃
hypercorrection. There are no differences in the background of learning other foreign languages besides English, however it is important for teachers to understand which languages are spoken well by beginners in order to know the interference that might occur. During these trials, there is a development of pronunciation which reached the accomplishment percentage from 59% to 84% by all research subjects from Asian language studies students, European language studies students, French studies students, also non-language studies students with the most errors maximum 1-2 words only. The Asian language studies students, learning more difficult sounds, were the only group pronouncing the virelangue correctly in the last trial.

Released in 1980, the song “Si j'étais Président” talks about the songwriter, Gérard Lenorman, as a child who dreams of becoming president. The composition of this song coincided with the end of the tenure of President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing in 1981 and Prime Minister Raymond Barre. Giscard d'Estaing's tenure was marked by the transformation of capitalism and a paradigm shift in economics, as well as mass unemployment that persisted in the long term in France and the global economic crisis. In this regard, the lyrics of the song "Si j'étais Président" include several government positions held by fictional figures as a form of criticism of the French government. The purpose of this study is to show criticism of the French government through the depiction of fictional characters as ideal officials. This research was conducted with qualitative methods and literature study techniques. Furthermore, the song lyrics were studied based on Leech's (1981) componential analysis of meaning theory and Lehmann and Martin-Berthet (2000) theory of metaphor. As many as ten concrete-to-concrete metaphors found in the song show political overtones in the form of criticism of the French government under President Giscard d'Estaing. The metaphor in the form of popular fictional child characters makes the song feels familiar and easy to understand. The results show that the metaphor in the song can be used to raise people's awareness to the importance of criticism of the government in order to improve the state of the country."
