"This is the very first book to deal with sex and gender differences in drug therapy - an increasingly recognized medical need. It starts with an overview on S/G in clinical syndromes and a documentation of the medical and socioeconomic damage caused by gender specific adverse drug effects. Part I covers S/G differences in pharmacokinetics. Researchers will be satisfied by the detailed discussion of the mechanisms of S/G differences in drug effects that represents cutting edge science and includes interaction of drugs with sex hormones, genomic and epigenetic mechanisms. It also covers S/G in drug development, in animal models and clinical development and S/G in drug prescriptions. Part II targets S/G differences in drug effects in cardiovascular, pulmonary, CNS, neuromuscular, neuropsychiatric and metabolic diseases, in cancer, inflammation, and rheumatic diseases, in bacterial and retroviral infections, thrombosis, embolism. New drugs will be discussed."

"The decade-long slowdown of the Japanese economy has forced many Japanese firms out of their complacency. In their struggle to regain competitiveness, firms have begun, among other measures, to revise their employment practices. While concentrating on promotion policy and compensation schemes, this paper looks into the evidence of these attempts to alter employment practices. As far as the developments of the last 20 years since the first oil-shock are concerned, recent adjustments of promotion and compensation practices seem rather limited. Although the seniority rule is further losing its influence on promotion and wage decisions which are increasingly determined by qualification and competence instead of age and tenure, the core of the Japanese employment system, i.e. the long-term development of human capital inside the firm, is not yet subject to change."

The objectives of the study is to determine the effect of minimum wages on employment transition, especially in Java as the majority of the Indonesian region set a minimum wage in district/city level. Previous similar studies carried out in developed countries that do not take the informal sectors. The analysis was performed using individual data sourced from Sakernas BPS 2010 and 2015 are seen as a form of longitudinal t-1 and t for each year. Empirical analysis used is multinomial logit with Markov chain approach. In addition to a real minimum wage as an primary independent variable, other independent variables used were age, gender, educational level, and marital status as individual characteristics, as well as the GRDP, the share of the manufacturing sector in the GRDP, coverage of the minimum wage, and the ratio of working age population to total population as regional characteristics. Minimum wage has a significant and negative impact on the transition from the informal to the formal (F to I), formal to not employed (F to N), and not employed to not employed (N to N). In addition, the minimum wage is also positive and significant impact on the transition from formal to formal (F to F) and informal to informal (I to I). While the transition from not employed to informal (N to I) are not affected by the minimum wage."
