The diversity of wild banana species in Sulawesi was investigated based on the morphological characteristics of herbarium specimens collected in Sulawesi and deposited in the Herbarium Bogoriense, Bogor, Indonesia (BO). New specimens were collected from Central, North, South, and Southeast Sulawesi, and digital type specimens were also used in this study. The aim of this study was to describe the diversity of wild banana species in Sulawesi as most Musaceae specimens stored at BO have not been identified. By examinating 110 sheets of herbarium specimens, five species of Musa, including two infraspecific taxa of M. acuminata housed in Sulawesi, were identified. Musa acuminata, M. celebica, and M. textilis were previously reported from Sulawesi. However, M. balbisiana and M. itinerans are two new records of wild banana species in Sulawesi. Identification keys, descriptions, distribution maps, and line-drawing illustrations of these two species are provided."

"Three specimens of Plectranthias retrofasciatus Fourmanoir and Randall, 1979 and one specimen of P. randalli
Fourmanoir and Rivaton, 1980 were collected by first author from fish market, Bitung, North Sulawesi on June
and September 2010. The specimens were deposited at LBRC-F, the reference collection of LIPI Bitung, Technical
Implementation Unit for Marine Biota Conservation, Research Centre for Oceanography, Indonesian Institute of
Sciences, Bitung, Indonesia. Plectranthias retrofasciatus is closely related to P. megalophthalmus and P. knappi,
in sharing some morphological characters as snout length and interorbital width, while P. randalli differs to other
species by having a moderate deep body proportion. Initially these species known only from New Caledonia for P.
retrofasciatus and Chesterfield Islands and southern Taiwan for P. randalli respectively. The two species of anthiine
fishes collected from Bitung, Indonesia bringing the total number of species of this genus known in Indonesia to six.

Since the first, banana weevil has been known empirically can trigger hair growth, but there is no research that proves the statement. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical stability and activity of hair growth hair tonic preparations containing extracts of banana weevil water by varying the concentration of 2%, 4% and 8%. Hair tonic preparations made with 96% ethanol, propylene glycol, menthol, propyl paraben, methyl paraben, and sodium metabisulfite. Physical stability test performed at low temperature, room temperature, and high temperatures. Hair tonic is applied to the back skin of mice that had been sheared to test preparation activities. Activity is determined by calculating the weight of long hair and rat hair. Physical stability of the test results showed all three formulations is stable at low temperature storage, room temperature, and high temperatures. Formula that gives the most potent against the rat hair growth hair tonic with banana weevil extract concentration of 4%."

Ekstrak etanol A. baccifera dan B. virgata konsentrasi 6,25–12,5 mg/mL menghambat pembentukan biofilm A. hydrophila dengan kuat.

Fish diseases can be caused by biofilm-forming bacteria, such as Aeromonas hydrophila and Flavobacterium columnare. Treatment of fish diseases is usually done using antibiotics and herbal plants. This study aims to determine the antibacterial potential of ethanolic extracts of wild plants from South Sulawesi and to determine the effect of giving extracts with various concentrations on the formation of biofilms. Antibacterial sensitivity test was carried out using disc diffusion and microdilution methods. The biofilm formation inhibition test was carried out using the microtiter plate and cover slip methods followed by 3D visualization using ImageJ software. The result revealed that, the sensitivity test of ethanolic extracts Ammannia baccifera and Breynia virgata inhibited both bacteria at concentrations of 0.2 g/mL, 0.4 g/mL, and 0.6 g/mL with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) at 1.56 mg/mL, 25 mg/mL, 50 mg/mL, and 100 mg/mL and minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBC) at 3.13 mg/mL, 12.5 mg/mL, and 200 mg/mL. Ethanolic extracts of A. baccifera and B. virgata at concentrations of 6.25–12.5 mg/mL strongly inhibited the formation of A. hydrophila biofilms. Ammannia baccifera ethanolic extract concentrations of 0.78 mg/mL, 3.13 mg/mL, and 6.25 mg/mL strongly inhibited the formation of F. columnare biofilms. Ethanolic extract of A. baccifera and B. virgata with a concentration of 200 mg/mL strongly increased the biofilm formation of A. hydrophila and F. columnare. Biofilm coverage was not affected by the larger or smaller concentration of the extract."
