"Proliferation phase is the second of the three phases in wound healing. In this phase, fibroblast is a pivotal component. The migration and proliferation of fibroblasts are influenced by FGF, TGF-β and FGF. Amniotic membrane (AM) which consists of several growth factors that play an important role in wound healing can be used as transplantation materials. This study investigated the influence of AM on the number of fibroblast cells in the process of wound healing on rabbit's gingiva. Thirty six rabbits were divided into 2 groups, one is the control group (C) and the other is the treatment group (I). Each of the groups were divided into 6 groups. composed of 3 rabbits based on the date of termination, i.e. 1st, 3rd, 5th. 7th. 10th and 14th day after wounded. Five layers of AM were applicated on T group wounding and C group wounding were let open. Histological evaluation was done to calculate the number of fibroblast cells. Data analysis was done by using MANOVA. The results showed there was a significant difference (p<0,05) in the number of fibroblast cells between T and C groups among the groups of termination dates. The one having the highest number of fibroblast cell was in T 10 group. lt can be concluded that AM enhanced the number of fibroblast cells in the process of wound healing on rabbit's gingival."

"Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menilai proses penyembuhan luka dengan menggunakan ekstrak metanol daun Jatropha multifida L. berdasarkan mekanisme penurunan jumlah leukosit PMN dan peningkatan jumlah sel fibroblas.
Metode: bahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah ekstrak metanol dari daun Jatropha multifida Subyek penelitian terdiri dari 36 ekor tikus putih jantan galur Spraque Dawlay umur 2 bulan dengan berat badan sekitar 150-200 g. Hewan coba dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. Kelompok I (negatif kontrol merupakan kelompok hewan coba yang dilukai tanpa diobati; kelompok II (kontrol positif) merupakan kelompok hewan coba yang diobati dengan Bethasone-N; Kelompok III (kontrol pelarut) merupakan kelompok yang diobati dengan alkohol 70% sedangkan kelompok IV (kelompok perlakuan) merupakan kelompok yang diobati dengan meneteskan 10 mg ekstrak metanol daun Jatropha multifida. Setiap kelompok terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus yang masing-masing dibagi lagi menjadi kelompok waktu dekapitasi pada hari ke 3, 6, dan 13. Pada jaringan luka dibuat sediaan histologi dengan pewarnaan HE dan dilanjutkan dengan menghitung jumlah leukosit PMN dan fibroblas.
Pada penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa penurunan jumlah leukosit PMN pada kelompok perlakuan dengan ekstrak metanol daun Jatropha multifida relatif lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dan kontrol pelarut. Peningkatan jumlah fibroblas terjadi pada hari ke 6 dan 13 setelah perlakuan. Simpulan: ekstrak metanol daun Jatropha multifida dapat mengobati luka sayat lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dan kontrol pelarut.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of methanol extract of Jatropha multifida leaves on the wound healing process and to investigate the wound healing activity based on reduced numbers of PMN (polymorpho nuclear) leukocytes and increased numbers of fibroblasts.
Method: methanol extract of dried leaves of Jatropha multifida was used in the wound healing activity studies. The study subjects were 36 white male Sprague Dawlay rats aged 2 months with 150-200 gram body weight. The subjects were divided into 4 groups and experimentally injured: Group I (negative control) underwent injury without subsequent treatment; group II (positive control) received topical treatment with Bethasone-N after injury; group III (solvent control) was treated with 70% methanol; group IV (treatment group) was treated with 10 mg methanol extract of Jatropha multifida Each group consisted of 3 rats, which were decapitated on days 3, 6, and 13 after the start of treatment. Histological preparation was stained with hematoxyline-eosin (HE) and was continuously examined by counting the numbers of PMN leukocytes and fibroblasts as indicators of wound healing on days 3, 6, and 13 of treatment.
The study showed lower numbers of PMN leukocytes in subjects treated with the extract of Jatropha multifidaas compared to the other groups. The numbers of fibroblasts were significantly higher on days 6 and 13 of treatment. In conclusion, the treatment of injuries with methanol extract of leaves from Jatropha multifida provided better results compared to the other groups in our study."

"Kulit merupakan sistem pertahanan eksternal, langsung menjalani proses penyembuhan luka ketika terjadi luka dan banyak orang cenderung memberi proses penyembuhan luka dengan agen antiseptik, povidone iodine 10 Betadine . Namun, terdapat ide baru tentang penggunaan povidone iodine 5 pada penyembuhan luka kulit yang dapat memberikan efek yang berbeda. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan efek berbeda dari penggunaan konsentrasi yang berbeda dari povidone iodine pada jumlah PMN, fibroblast, dan serat kolagen dan untuk menentukan kadar 5 atau 10 yang lebih cocok untuk digunakan.
Penelitian ini menggunakan tikus sebagai sampel, masing-masing tikus diberikan 3 luka dengan 3 perlakuan berbeda terdiri dari kontrol, povidone iodine 10 , dan povidone iodine 5 . Pada hari ke-3, tiga tikus pertama dikorbankan dan pada hari ke-7 3 tikus berikut dikorbankan, lalu dibuat spesimen histologi dengan mengambil area luka dan diwarnai dengan Hematoksilin-Eosin untuk menganalisis jumlah PMN dan fibroblast, serta Van Gieson menganalisis serat kolagen. Hasil dari penelitian ini memperlihatkan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara povidone iodine 5 dan 10 dalam proses keseluruhan penyembuhan luka yang dilihat dari jumlah PMN, fibroblast, dan serat kolagen.

Skin is an external defense system, directly undergo wound healing process when scars occur and people tend to interfere the wound healing process with antiseptic agents, in this case is the use of povidone iodine 10 Betadine . However, there is new idea about the appliance of povidone iodine 5 on cutaneous wound healing may give different effect. This research aims to compare the different effect of using different concentration of povidone iodine on number of PMN, fibroblast, and collagen fibers during wound healing process and to determine which one is more suitable to use.
This experiment using rats as samples, each rat is given 3 wounds with 3 different treatments consisted of control, povidone iodine 10, and povidone iodine 5. On the 3rd day, the first three rats were sacrificed and on the 7th day the following 3 rats were sacrificed, then made histological specimens by taking the wound area and stained it using Hematoxylin eosin to analyze number of PMN and fibroblast, also Van Gieson to analyze collagen fibers. The result of this experiment is that there is no significant difference among povidone iodine 5 and 10 in overall process or phases of wound healing, as seen from number of PMN, fibroblast, as well as collagen fibers.

"Latar Belakang: Ulkus kornea bakteri merupakan penyebab utama buta kornea. Tatalaksana standar ulkus kornea bakteri hingga kini masih terfokus pada eliminasi infeksi melalui antibiotik. Meskipun amplifikasi bateri telah dihentikan, inflamasi sekunder kornea terus berlangsung dan mengakibatkan destruksi kornea lebih lanjut dan sikatriks yang tebal.
Tujuan: Untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas dan keamanan terapi kombinasi keratektomi superfisial dengan transplantasi membran amnion dan plasma autolog topikal pada ulkus kornea bakteri sedang dan berat, dalam memfasilitasi penyembuhan dan meminimalisasi inflamasi sekunder kornea.
Metode: Uji klinis terandomisasi terbuka. Pembedahan pada kelompok eksperimental dilakukan dalam 72 jam pasca pemberian tiga hari antibiotik inisial.
Hasil: Enambelas mata dengan ulkus kornea bakteri diikutkan dalam penelitian ini. Seluruh ulkus sembuh dalam waktu 36 hari pada kelompok eksperimental, dan 54 hari pada kelompok kontrol. Kecepatan epitelisasi kelompok eksperimental lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan kontrol (1,82±1,11 vs 0,97±0,74 mm2/hari, p=0,04, uji t tidak berpasangan). Terdapat kecenderungan pembentukan sikatriks kornea yang lebih tebal pada kelompok kontrol. Pada akhir evaluasi, tajam penglihatan lebih baik didapatkan pada kelompok eksperimental (0,344 ± 0,15 vs 0,196 ± 0,12 pada ulkus sedang, p=0,2, uji t tidak berpasangan; dan 0,14 ± 0,05 vs 0,014 ± 0,02 pada ulkus berat, p<0,01, uji t tidak berpasangan). Tidak ada komplikasi pada kelompok eksperimental, namun terdapat dua komplikasi pada kelompok kontrol.
Simpulan: Terapi kombinasi keratektomi superfisial dengan transplantasi membran amnion dan plasma autolog topikal pada ulkus kornea bakteri terbukti lebih efektif dan aman dibandingkan terapi antibiotik konvensional. Terapi ini mempercepat epitelisasi dan penyembuhan ulkus, sehingga membentuk sikatriks kornea yang lebih tipis dengan tajam penglihatan lebih baik.

Background: Bacterial corneal ulcer is a leading cause of corneal blindness. Up to now, the standard treatment for bacterial corneal ulcer is limited to the elimination of infection with antibiotic. However, the secondary tissue inflammation may still persist, leading to further corneal tissue destruction and dense corneal scar.
Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of superficial keratectomy, freeze-dried amniotic membrane transplantation and topical autologous plasma as a novel combination therapy in moderate and severe bacterial corneal ulcer, for promoting corneal wound healing and minimizing second injury of the cornea.
Methods: An open randomized controlled trial. The operation in experimental group was performed within 72 hours after three days application of initial antibiotic.
Results: Sixteen eyes of bacterial corneal ulcers were enrolled. All ulcers were healed within 36 days in the experimental group, compared to 54 days in the control group. Epithelialization rate of the experimental group was significantly faster than the control group (1,82±1,11 vs 0,97±0,74 mm2/day, p=0,04, unpaired t-test). Dense corneal scarring was more likely marked in the control group. Higher visual acuity at the last follow-up was achieved in the experimental group (0,344±0,15 vs 0,196±0,12 for moderate cases, p=0,2, unpaired t-test; and 0,14±0,05 vs 0,014±0,02 for severe cases, p<0,01, unpaired t-test). None complication was found in experimental group, while two complications (impending perforation and limbal damage) were noted within the control group.
Conclusions: Combination of superficial keratectomy with amniotic membrane transplantation and topical autologous plasma shows its benefits and safety for bacterial corneal ulcers. It promotes early epithelialization and corneal wound healing, thus achieving less corneal scarring with better visual acuity than conventional antibiotic therapy.

"Telah dilakukan uji pemanfaatan getah pisang ambon (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum Lamb) dalam penyembuhan luka bakar pada kulit tikus putih (Rattus novergicus). Penyembuhan luka bakar dievaluasi dengan menghitung jumlah leukosit PMN dan jumlah fibroblas pada hari ke 7, 14, dan 21 setelah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penurunan jumlah leukosit PMN pada subjek yang diobati dengan getah pisang ambon relatif lebih signifikan dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif dan positif (Bioplacenton ®). Sebaliknya, peningkatan jumlah fibroblas secara signifikan ditunjukkan pada hari ke-14 dan ke-21 setelah perawatan. Kesimpulannya, pengobatan dengan getah pisang Ambon pada luka bakar memberikan hasil yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kedua kontrol positif dan negatif.

A study of ambonese plantain banana (Musa paradisiaca var sapientum Lamb) treatment in burn wound healing on the skin of white rats (Rattus novergicus) has been conducted. The wound healing of burn injuries was evaluated by counting the number of PMN leukocytes and fibroblasts at the 7th, 14th, and 21st days following the treatment. The study showed that the decrease in number of PMN leukocytes of subjects treated with ambonese plantain banana was relatively more significant compared to both negative and positive control (Bioplacenton®). In contrast, an increasing number of fibroblasts was significantly demonstrated at the 14th and 21st days after treatment. In conclusion, ambonese plantain banana treatment in burn injuries will provide bett er results compared to both positive and negative controls."

"Latar Belakang: Pembentukan jaringan parut terkait dengan fibroblast yang dihasilkan selama fase proliferasi dan salah satu strategi untuk menekan pembentukannya yang berlebihan adalah dengan menggunakan bahan perawatan luka. Penggunaan obat herbal saat ini diminati karena menghindari efek samping obat sintetik dan Hydnophytum formicarum berpotensi sebagai antioksidan dan anti inflamasi. Tujuan Penelitian: Menganalisis pengaruhekstrak Hydnophytum formicarum terhadap kerapatan kolagen, angiogenesis, panjang luka, dan reepitelisasi penyembuhan luka. Metode Penelitian: 24 ekor tikus Sprague Dawley dibagi dalam kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan. Luka dibuat menggunakan biopsy punch. Empat ekor tikus dari tiap kelompok di nekropsi pada hari ke 4, 7 dan 14. Analisa kerapatan kolagen, angiogenesis, panjang luka, dan reepitelisasi dilakukan menggunakan pemeriksaan hematoksilin eosin dan masson’s trichrome. Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan bermakna pada angiogenesis, panjang luka, reepiteliasasi antar kelompok. Angiogenesis pada kelompok perlakuan memiliki jumlah yang lebih sedikit namun lebih matur. Selain itu terdapat interaksi antara pengaplikasian ekstrak Hydnophytum formicarum dan hari nekropsi terhadap kerapatan kolagen dan tingkat reepitelisasi. Kesimpulan: Penggunaan ekstrak Hydnophytum formicarum mempengaruhi pembentukkan jaringan parut yang ditunjukkan kerapatan kolagen, angiogenesis, reepitelisasi, dan panjang luka pada fase granulasi. Tidak terdapat kelainan spesifik pada luka pada kelompok perlakuan. Inhibisi angiogenesis pada aplikasiHydnophytum formicarum berhubungan dengan pembentukan jaringan parut pada luka.

Background: Formation of scar tissue associated with fibroblast and wound care material is used to suppress the formation of excessive scar tissue. Herbal medicine is currently popular because it avoids the side effects of synthetic drugs and Hydnophytum formicarum has antioxidant and anti-inflammation potential. Purpose: Analyzing the effects of Hydnophytum formicarum extract on collagen density, angiogenesis, wound length, reepithelialization in wound healing. Material and Method: 24 mice are divided in the control and treated group. Wounds were made using biopsy punch. Four rats from each group were necropsed on day 4, 7 and 14. Collagen density, angiogenesis, wound length, reepithelialization were then analyzed using hematoxylin eosin and masson’s trichrome staining. Results: There were significant differences in the results of the angiogenesis analysis, wound length, reepitheliasation between the groups. Angiogenesis in the treatment group had smaller number but more mature. There was interaction between the application of Hydnophytum formicarum extract and necropsy day on collagen density and reepithelialization rate. Conclusion: Hydnophytum formicarum extracts affected the formation of scar tissue as indicated by collagen density, angiogenesis, reepithelialization, wound length in granulation phases. Inhibition of angiogenesis in the application of Hydnophytum formicarum is related to the formation of scar tissue in the wound."

"Depresi pasien ulkus diabetikum dapat menurunkan respon imun dan inflamasi yang dibutuhkan pada proses penyembuhan luja. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh pengelolaan depresi dengan pranayama terhadap perkembangan proses penyembuhan ulkus diabetikum di RS pemerintah Aceh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan latihan pranayama dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan proses penyembuhan ulkus dan penurunan skor depresi, namun tidak ditemukan pengaruh pengelolaan depresi dengan pranayama terhadap perkembangan proses penyembuhan ulkus diabetikum.

Depression on patient with diabetic ulcer impair immune and inflammation response that are needed in wound healing process. The urpose of this quasi experiment research was to identified the effect of pranayama on patient diabetic ulcer in Aceh government hospital. The result showed that pranayama has positive effect to wound healing progress and to decrease the depression score. But there was no effect of controlling depression by pranayama to wound healing progress."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas produk beta-1,3 glukan hasil ekstraksi dari Agrobacterium sp Bro 1.2.1 isolat lokal galur tipe liar dan galur tipe mutan terhadap penyembuhan luka terbuka pada hewan coba tikus putih galur Sprague Dawley yang dibuat luka terbuka. Ekstraksi produk beta-1,3 glukan dilakukan dengan cara pengendapan dan dilanjutkan dengan pemurnian pada kromatografi kolom sebagai fraksi gradien KCl. Percobaan uji aktivitas dibagi menjadi tujuh kelompok perlakuan yaitu kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dengan Povidon iodium, dua kelompok dari dua produk beta-1,3 glukan komersil dengan dosis masing-masing 0,02 mg/4 cm2 , tiga kelompok beta-1,3 glukan uji dengan dosis masing-masing yaitu 0,02 mg/4 cm2, 0,10 mg/ 4 cm2 dan 0,5 mg/ 4 cm2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara kontrol negatif dengan kontrol positif dan kelompok uji pada dosis tertinggi 0,5 mg/4 cm2 dibandingkan kelompok kontrol negatif dan kontrol positif (p<0.05) menggunakan analisis statistik beda nyata terkecil.

Production of beta-1,3 glucan from Agrobacterium and its wound healing activity on white rat. The objective of this study was to determine the activity of beta-1,3 glucan product extracted from local Agrobacterium sp Bro 1.2.1, both wild-type and mutant-type, on opened-wound healing process. Beta-1,3 glucan product was extracted by precipitation, and the purification was carried out by column chromatography as KCl gradient fractions. In this study, white Sprague Dawley rats were employed, and have been treated for opened-wound condition. Seven groups were performed in this experiment, i.e. the negative control, the positive control employing povidone iodine, the two groups of two commercial beta-1,3 glucan with 0,02 mg/4 cm2 each, and the last three groups of beta-1,3 glucan as the test group with 0,02 mg/4 cm2, 0,10 mg/4 cm2 and 0,50 mg/4 cm2, respectively. The result showed significant differences of wound-healing activity performing statistical analysis of the least significance between the negative control, the positive control, as well as the highest dose of the test group of beta-1,3 glucan, at the dose of 0,5 mg/4 cm2 (p<0.05)."

"ABSTRAK
Latar belakangFistel enterokutan FEK adalah salah satu komplikasi paling ditakuti pada pembedahan abdomen, baik bagi ahli bedah maupun tim kesehatan lainnya. Komplikasi ini menyebabkan morbiditas yang signifikan, hingga kemungkinan kematian. Dengan kemajuan teknologi pada teknik perawatan operatif dan non operatif pun, komplikasi-komplikasi yang disebabkan oleh FEK masih sulit dihindari. Negative pressure wound therapy NPWT telah lama digunakan untuk merawat luka kronis, dengan tujuan mengurangi oedema jaringan, memperbaiki sirkulasi, membantu pembentukan jaringan granulasi sehat, dan menghambat lokalisasi kuman. Pada karya tulis ilmiah ini, dilaporkan seorang pasien laki-laki berusia 29 tahun dengan FEK dan komplikasi-komplikasinya yang berhasil dirawat menggunakan NPWT. Ini adalah kasus pertama perawatan FEK menggunakan NPWT di RSUPN dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo. MetodeSebuah laporan kasus berbasis bukti. SimpulanHasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penggunakan NPWT aman dan efektif untuk merawat FEK, baik sebagai terapi definitif maupun terapi jembatan sebelum pembedahan definitif.

ABSTRACT
IntroductionEnterocutaneous fistula ECF is one of the most challenging abdominal complications, for surgeons and other healthcare members, which involves significant morbidity and potentially mortality. Despite advancements in both operative and non operative therapy, fistula related complications are still unavoidable. Negative pressure wound therapy NPWT had been used years to treat chronic wound, to decrease tissue oedema, improve circulation, promote healthy granulation tissue, and inhibit bacterial growth. We report the first use of NPWT to successfully treat ECF patient in our hospital. Case PresentationA 29 year old male was admitted to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital with septic shock and generalized peritonitis due to bowel perforation. Following resuscitation and laparotomy, the patient developed laparotomy wound dehiscence and multiple high output fistulas. The pathologic examination revealed intestinal tuberculosis infection. During the course of treatment, the patient developed cellulitis, dermatitis, hipoproteinemia, and severe malnutrition. After unsatisfactory results using conservative dressings for one month, NPWT was applied. Improvements were observed immediately after three days. Spillage contaminations were controlled, and the number of active fistulas decreased. One month following the end of NPWT, keystone flap was performed to facilitate closure. No complications occurred.ConclusionThe results in suggest that NPWT is a safe and effective alternative to treat ECF, whether to achieve fistula closure or as a bridge to definitive surgery."

"[ABSTRAK
LATAR BELAKANG: Erythropoetin (EPO) sebagai hematopoietic growth factor, menarik perhatian para peneliti akibat efeknya dalam melindungi jaringan. EPO berinteraksi dengan vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) dan menstimulasi mitosis dan motilitas sel endotel dalam proses neo-angiogenesis; dan hal ini penting dalam fenomena kompleks penyembuhan luka, Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menyelidiki efek pemberian EPO pada penyembuhan luka bakar eksperimental di hewan coba.
METODE: Lima belas ekor tikus Sprague-Dawley, strain dari Rattus Novergicus dengan berat antara 300-350 gram yang merupakan subjek hewan coba pada penelitian ini dibuat perlakuan eksperimental luka bakar grade 2B (dermis dalam). Lalu hewan coba akan dibagi ke dalam tiga grup secara acak dan mendapatkan terapi injeksi EPO dosis rendah (600 IU/mL), injeksi EPO dosis tinggi (3000 IU/mL) dan tidak mendapatkan perlakuan terapi apapun (grup kontrol). Setelah 14 hari observasi, dilakukan penilaian secara kuantitatif dari proses penyembuhan luka dengan menghitung persentasi epitelialisasi menggunakan perangkat lunak Analyzing Digital Images®. Dilakukan pula penilaian secara kualitatif dengan menghitung skor perubahan histopatologis pada penyembuhan luka.
HASIL: Ukuran luka dan percepatan epitelialisasi dihitung pada hari ke-0, hari ke-5, hari ke-10 dan hari ke-14. Didapatkan bahwa hasil rerata ukuran raw surface (p value: 0.012 pada hari ke-5; 0.009 pada hari ke-10 and 0.000 pada hari ke-14) dan persentase penyembuhan luka (p value: 0.011 pada hari ke-5; 0.016 pada hari ke-10 and 0.010 pada hari ke-14), nilai terbaik dicapai oleh grup injeksi EPO dosis rendah. Evaluasi histopatologis menunjukkan bahwa skor tertinggi untuk re-epitelialisasi, jaringan granulasi dan neo-angiogenesis juga didapatkan pada grup injeksi EPO dosis rendah.
SIMPULAN: Pada studi hewan coba menggunakan tikus Sprague-Dawley ini, didapatkan bahwa injeksi Recombinant Human EPO (rHuEPO) dapat mempercepat proses re-epitelialisasi dan penyembuhan luka yang disebabkan oleh luka bakar grade 2B (dermis dalam). Temuan ini diharapkan akan membuka pengetahuan baru dalam peningkatan kualitas terapi pada penyembuhan luka bakar.

ABSTRACT
BACKGROUNDS: The hematopoietic growth factor erythropoietin (EPO) attracts attention due to its all-tissue-protective pleiotropic properties. EPO interacts with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and stimulates endothelial cell mitosis and motility in neo-angiogenesis; thus it may of importance in the complex phenomenon of wound healing. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of EPO in experimental burn wounds healing.
METHODS: Fifteen healthy Sprague-Dawley, strain of Rattus Novergicus weighing 300-350 grams, were prepared to achieve deep dermal burns. Animals were randomized to receive either low-dose EPO injection (600 IU/mL), high-dose EPO injection (3000 IU/mL) or nothing (control group). After 14 days of observations, a quantitative assessment of wound healing was determined by percentage of wound closure and epithelialization using Analyzing Digital Images® Software. And qualitative assessment was done to evaluate the score of histopathological changes in wound healing.
RESULTS: The size of the wound area and re-epithelialization rate percentage was determined on Day-0, Day-5, Day-10 and Day-14. The average of raw surface areas measurement (p value: 0.012 in day-5; 0.009 in day-10 and 0.000 in day-14) and healing percentage of the lesions (p value: 0.011 in day-5; 0.016 in day-10 and 0.010 in day-14) were significantly best in the low- dose EPO group compared to the control group and high-dose EPO group. The histopathology evaluation revealed that the highest score for re-epithelialization, granulation tissue and neo- angiogenesis were achieved by the low-dose EPO injection group than in both control and high- dose EPO injection groups.
CONCLUSIONS: In this animal study using Sprague-Dawley rats, Recombinant Human EPO (rHuEPO) injection administration prompted the evidences of improved re-epithelialization and wound healing process of the skin caused by deep dermal burns.
