"The main purpose of this study is to identify determinant factors of regional inflation in the decentralized Indonesia. Inflation nowadays may spread widerly and more difficult to handle than in the past. This condition has created difficulties for the central bank to maintain targeted inflation. The study employs field surveys and econometric tools. The field surveys are conducted in six cities--Medan, Semarang, Surakarta, Palu, Banjarmasin, and Pontianak. It is found from the cross tabulation that regional inflation is significantly affected by the infrastructure condition in the corresponding regions. Aside from the infrastructure condition, the logistic analysis concludes that regional inflation is also affected by local regulations. However, infrastructure still has a larger effect on inflation. The econometric methodology use unit root and Engle-Granger cointegration tests to prove whether the purchasing power parity among regions holds. It is found that purchasing power parity does not hold for all regions. Another tool is the variance decomposition?it is used to determine whether regional inflation is dominantly monetary or non-monetary factors. This study found that non-monetary factors are main contributors to regional inflation. Pooled data estimation with fixed effect shows that inflation is significantly influenced by non-monetary factors--the growths of local government revenues, routine expenditures, and local transportation costs. Local government routine expenditures have the largest elasticity on inflation. "

"This paper looks at the pattern of inequality and convergence of Indonesia's regional income since the 1970s. Although economic growth frameworks have mostly been applied to analyse cross-country growth and convergence, some regional country studies have been done. However, the impact of the macroeconomic conditions at the national level on regional inequality and the convergence process need to be incorporated.
Indonesia is an interesting case study, since the economy has been through much turbulence in the lasat few decades from external shocks as well as some major national policy changes. The different record in sub national development has made regional inequality and growth a crucial topic."

"ABSTRAK
In the study of contemporary local politics and the dynamics of decentralization in Indonesia, there is insufficient research on how political actors integrate both psychologically and emotionally as a strategy to gain power at the local level. This paper explores the way in which the emotion labelled fear of crime embodies local power, specifically in the Central Lombok District of West Nusa Tenggara Province. Efforts have been made to investigate how the fear of crime emerged and was disseminated, as well as how the politics of fear appeared and functioned in a social setting. This paper argues that fear can be socially constructed through talk of crime and politicized in the context of local elections by elites through informal security groups or individual datu maling, two entities that I refer to as fear entrepreneurs."

ABSTRACT
Indonesia has abundant natural resources, which could lead the country to fast development. This development could be disturbed by the natural resource curse. This research explores the presence of the natural resource curse on the district level by dividing the model into two periods. This paper uses GDP per capita, education expenditure ratio, infrastructure expenditure ratio, and literacy rate as independent variables. To measure the natural resource curse phenomenon, the model uses producing districts as dummy variables. The results show that the natural resource curse appears in Indonesia and is growing deeper in the second period. This paper compares the poverty rate on each island by modifying the producing districts’ dummy variable with the island’s dummy variable. The result indicates that Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi islands have the same poverty rate. Compared to these islands, Kalimantan and Bali islands have lower poverty rates, and Maluku, Papua, and Nusa Tenggara islands have higher poverty rates. Finally, this paper proposes that the Indonesia government programs in poverty alleviation become aware of the natural resource curse. "

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses the dynamics of Djawatan Transmigrasi in an efforts to maximice the potential of the regional for equitable Developmnet in Indonesia (1945-1966). In previous research, there is no comprehensive discussion on the role of Djawatan Transmigrasi in carrying out transmigration in 1950-1960. Discussions about Djawatan Transmigrasi only discussed the formation and transfer of authority within the ministry. The focus of this research is the dynamics of Djawatan Transmigrasi on the implementation of transmigration Indonesia in 1945-1966. The method used in this study is the historical method by using well-written sources of documents and books. The government at the beginning of independence faced the problem of equitable population distribution. This imbalance affects the welfare of the people. The governments effort is to establish a Djawatan Transmigrasi to carry out transmigration in Indonesia. The results of this study can be seen that in the implementation of transmigration the impact felt by the island of Java is not large when compared with the transmigration receiving areas outside Java.  Transmigration has an important impact on the proportion of the population.  For example in the South Sumatera region especially in Lampung in 1961 majority of the population is inhabitants of the island of Java.  Then with time.  The implementation of transmigration also has an impact on the cultural and social aspects of the transmigration destination"

The role of contraceptive use dynamics in shaping the contraceptive
prevalence structure and ht determining its impact on fertility becomes
increasingly important for family planning program, policy mailers and
program managers. Relatively few analyses of contraceptive use dynamics
exist for developing countries. The lack of _ such studies is that the data
required are not often collected. This article is intended to _,fill in the gaps by
analyzing the five-year calendar data derived from the I994 Indonesia
Demographic and Health Survey (1994 DHS). The five year calendar data on
contraceptive use, pregnancy, termination and reason for discontinuation of
contraceptive use analyzed using the life table methodologies provide
meaningful insight on the quality of contraceptive use in Indonesia. It is found
that the median duration of use is longest for the IUD and implant, while
shortest lor condom/intravag. About 27 percent of all Indonesia contraceptive
users discontinue the use of their chosen method within a year. The reasons
for discontinuation vary across subgroups of women. Method failure is
associated more with discontinuation of traditional method, while method-
related reasons such as health concern or inconvenience of use are more
likely to be associated with discontinuation of modern method mainly lUDs,
injectables and implants. There are more important factors that differentiate
women on discontinuation qt' contraception e.g., area of residence, region
education, age, and contraceptive intent. These findings on discontinuation
enabled the family planning program to provide more realistic and focused
services to their clients. In conclusion, this analysis emphasizes the
importance of examining the quality of contraceptive use in Indonesia to
achieve greater appreciation of the factors that affect contraceptive
discontinuation, switching behavior, and use:;i:i'lure. Special attention should
he addressed to health concerns as an important issue for the most popular
modern methods and to the minority of women who discontinue use within a
year and do not switch to another method.
