Aliran musik rock progresif mulai populer di Indonesia pada periode 1970-an. Kepopuleran aliran musik progresif rock mulai pudar pada periode 1980-an seiring berakhirnnya grup musik Giant Step. Grup musik Giant Step merupakan salah satu pelopor yang memberikan pengaruh terhadap dunia musik Indonesia. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah penulis mengangkat perjalanan grup musik Giant Step yang memperkenalkan sekaligus mempopulerkan aliran rock progresif di dalam perjalanan sejarah dunia musik Indonesia.

Unfortunately, this popularity come to an end along with the end of the Giant Step group. The Giant Step is one of the breakthroughs artist in the progressive rock genre and very influential in Indonesia music history.
