"The purpose of this research is to investigate the career
orientations of educated and urban Indonesian women business executives
following Darr's (1988) success mop. While research an women business
executives and their career orientation is extensive in developed countries,
such research is scarce, if not none at all, in Indonesia. The country 's
society still holds deeply rooted beliefs' regarding the role of women at
home and in the workplace. Such special pressure could make difficult for
an Indonesian women to choose a career instead of a family, or to
successfully combine these two important pillars of her modern iU`e. This
study investigated five research questions on the career success
orientations of the Indonesian women business executives with i0 non-
directional null hypotheses on a sample representation of 93 of these
women. The findings ore that the majority of the respondents are oriented
to 'Getting balance '. This is a career success orientation concerned with
maintaining the balance between home, work and personal development.
Careers as lived by their respondents in this study, therefore, may be
removed from the ideals portrayed in management career literature; in
other words these respondents show 'no career' concerns for advancement
in the corporate board-room.

"Tesis ini menelaah tentang para wanita karier yang menggunakan kebiasaannya dalam merawat tubuh melalui rutinitas berSPA, yang bertujuan untuk mengatasi dominasi patriarki. Tesis ini menggunakan beberapa konsep, Pertama, muted group theory, yang menyatakan bahwa wanita adalah pihak yang terbungkam; sehingga untuk keluar dari kondisi tersebut, wanita harus melakukan transformasi diri. Transformasi tersebut selaras dengan konsep kedua, yaitu feminis eksistensialis. Dalam feminis eksistensialis, transformasi diartikan sebagai perubahan sosok wanita dari liyan menjadi diri, dari obyek menjadi subyek.
Dalam feminis eksistensialis, transformasi dapat diraih selain dengan cara bekerja di luar wilayah domestik, tapi juga ditunjang oleh penampilan yang baik melalui perawatan tubuh yang paripurna di SPA (Sanus Per Aquam), perawatan tubuh secara menyeluruh. Kebiasaan para wanita dalam merawat tubuh didapat melalui sosialisasi nilai-nilai yang diintervensikan pada diri seseorang sejak mereka kanak-kanak. Sosialisasi ini berhubungan dengan konsep ketiga yang dipakai, yaitu habitus. Intervensi atas kovensi-konvesi yang ada di lingkungan sosial seseorang, akan menjadi habitusnya.
Dalam penelitian ini, meski sosialisasi tentang posisi pria masih dianggap berada di atas wanita, namun wanita secara sadar menggunakan perawatan tubuh di SPA untuk mematahkan dominasi patriarki tersebut secara perlahan dan tidak disadari, bahkan oleh diri wanita sendiri, melalui penampilan mereka yang paripurna terejawantahkan. Sebab dengan penampilan yang paripurna, wanita dapat menyatakan eksistensinya pada setiap hal dimana mereka berada dan berkarya. SPA kemudian menjadi arena resistensi bagi wanita terhadap dominasi patriarki yang telah menekan wanita selama mereka hidup.

This thesis reviews how carrier women overcome patriarch domination by their habit of how they treat their body in a SPA Routine activity. The thesis based in a few concepts. First, the mutedgroup theory, that concerning of how females are in the position of mute; so as to get out from the condition above, a female must transform herself. The transformation must cope with the second concept about to apply, a concept of feminist existentialist, where transformations took her from common to “individual me”.
In feminist existentialisty the achievement of transformation itself is not by applying inside a domestic space alone, but appearance as well thru a physical treatment, as a plenary transformation. A transformations manifest by SPA (Sanus Per Aquam) holistical treatment. The physical treatment itself is conceming a social value, integrated early in the young of age. These are coping with the third concept, Habitnes. Compartment interventions thru stable society or social settlement sometime determine individual’s habitues.
Jn this research, gender superiority dominated by men is still concluded, and somehow physical treatments are taking superiority issues aside. In the end, patriarch dominations are resistible and solemnly fades, in the way they iive side by side with males in the world of men and excel them. Since SPA is a way to re-exist females, SPA became female’s arena to re-exist their existence in the world of patriarch domination which pressing them for as long as they shall live.

"Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara work-life balance dan career advancement potential pada perempuan bekerja. Pengukuran work-life balance menggunakan alat ukur work-life balance yang dikembangkan oleh Fisher, Bulger, dan Smith (2009) dan pengukuran career advancement potential menggunakan alat ukur yang dikembangkan oleh Heimler (2010). Berdasarkan data dari 87 perempuan bekerja di PT.XYZ, diperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara work-life balance dan career advancement potential (r=0,50, p< 0,05).

This research was conducted to find the relationship between work-life balance and career advancement potential among employed women. Work-life balance among employed women was measured by work-life balance measurement that developed by Fisher, Bulger, and Smith (2009), while career advancement potential among employed women was measured by career advancement potential scale that developed by Heimler (2010). Based on data from a sample of 87 employed women at PT. XYZ, result of this research revealed that work-life balance was positively significantly related to career advancement potential (r=0,50, p<0,05)."
